The Wall (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Schwarz, Otto M.
The walls of Babylon, the Great Wall of China, the limes of the Roman Empire and the Berlin Wall are just a few examples of the walls mankind has built over past centuries. Today, building walls remains an issue, often under the pretext of 'protection' against intruders. This idea inspired Otto M. Schwarz to write a piece about the Roman limes between Germania and Rhaetia. From around 150 to 260 AD the wall faced numerous attacks. This programmatic work describes the events as they happened a long time ago, and addresses hope that these events belong to the past forever. The Wall is a work full of action in all-instrumental groups. This is an impressive piece with strong musical images, perfect for a contest or as an apotheosis in your concert.Duration: 11:00

Kingdom of the Sun and the Moon (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Buckley, Robert
Inspired by an exhibition of historic Peruvian art, Kingdom of the Sun and Moon takes us on a mythical journey reflecting the ancient Inca Empire. In cinematic style, this work opens with a panoramic picture of the great Inca city of Machu Picchu and ends with a colourful procession towards the Temple of the Sun. Out to Sea & The Shark Cage Fugue (from Jaws) (Concert Band - Score only) - Williams, John - Bocook, Jay
Referring to the 1975 blockbuster Jaws, director Steven Spielberg states that John Williams' music "was clearly responsible for half the success of the movie." This suite features two of the signature musical sequences. In "Out to Sea," the trio of shark hunters led by police chief Martin Brody (played by Roy Scheider) heads into open water to find the menacing beast. This is followed by the "Shark Cage Fugue," a classically inspired and sophisticated accompaniment to a tense underwater scene in which Hooper (portrayed by Richard Dreyfuss) comes face-to-face with the great white in an all-too-fragile suspended cage.
