Editor Robert Foster has uncovered another forgotten Henry Fillmore march and restored it to its rightful place in band repertoire. This may be one of the best Fillmore marches we have heard that is for the most part still unknown. Written to stir patriotism during World War I, all of the wonderful Fillmore trademarks are present in this exceptional march. It is tuneful, exciting and well-scored; presented in a full score edition for the first time, exactly as Fillmore intended it to be.

Josef Franz Wagner (1856-1908) was a military bandmaster and composer known as the "Austrian March King." He wrote "Under the Double Eagle," his most popular and enduring composition, in 1902 It later became the official march of the 1st Austrian Artillery Regiment Number 2. The title refers to the double eagle in the coat of arms of the Austro-Hungarian double monarchy. America's own "March King," John Philip Sousa, liked the piece enough to record it three times with his own band.

£66.95Quest of the Magi - Brian Beck
was one of the working titles for John Henry Hopkins Jr.'s famous carol, "We Three Kings." Written in 1857 for a Christmas pageant in New York City, "We Three Kings" tells the tale of the Magis' journey to find a newly born king in a faraway land and the precious gifts they brought with them. This piece focuses more on the journey of "following yonder star." Traveling across many countries in the first century was a perilous task, full of danger, thievery, and possible death, not to mention these men were traveling with some of the most precious and expensive cargo one could possess. This piece chronicles the magi acquiring myrrh, frankincense, and gold for their journey. Each treasure is represented by its own motif and woven into Hopkins' original carol. (2:45)
