A Welcome Voice - Lewis Hartsough / arr. Frank McKinney

Lewis T. Hartsough wrote "I Hear Thy Welcome Voice" in 1872 at a revival meeting in Epworth, Iowa. This lyrical setting explores the rich sonority available to the young concert band. The opening melody is heard in the dark, rich, full sound of the clarinets' chalumeau register and is doubled by the baritone. As the piece slowly unfolds, it offers the hymn in increasingly dramatic fashion up to its glorious resolution and final Amen.

    Unity - Justin Harden

Inspired by the late Martin Luther King Jr's "I Have A Dream" speech, this new composition by Justin Harden conveys images of promise, solidarity, and triumph. Written for United Sound, the work begins with a beautiful and lush lyrical statement. A heralding trumpet foreshadows the glorious development leading to a glorious conclusion. Appropriate for concert/festival as well as ceremonial use, Unity may very well find a place in your band's standard repertoire.Original Item#: RWS-1831-00

Over the Rainbow (from ), Variations on

Initially this lush melody is presented with a soaring trumpet solo and warm full-band accompaniment. Then the variations include a cha-cha version and an oom-pah version. Consider programming all four Roy Phillippe variations to the Wizard of Oz, including "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead" (26767) and "If I Only Had A Brain" (26769). A most creative set of arrangements!
