Franco Cesarini had the opportunity to attend performances by an ethnic group of Cossacks from Kuban. He was deeply touched by the beauty of the songs and traditional dances of the Cossacks and has written this work for concert band which faithfully retains the essential spirit of this seductive music.

In 2009, one year after its formation, the Swiss brass ensemble Azimuts Brass commissioned its conductor, Marc Jeanbourquin, to write them a signature tune. He composed Jazzimut, which features a festive introduction followed by a lyrical theme. After a few bars of rock rhythm, Jazzimut goes disco and finishes with a recapitulation of the introduction as a fanfare. Now available for concert band this is an entertaining piece from start to finish!

The town of Schwenningen at the source of the Neckar inspired Wolfgang Wssner to compose this march song. In the trio he employed Friedrich Silcher's well-known folk song Am Neckar. The march is composed in 6/8 time throughout, with the folk song theme likewise arranged in this meter. An optional performance with male choir is possible, with the _x005F_x001F_first two verses, together with the last verse, sung.

Duettino
Composer, flutist and conductor Franz Albert Doppler (1821-1883) descends from a musical Austrian-Hungarian family. Together with his brother Karl, who was a flute virtuoso, he travelled extensively around Europe. The Celtic poem The Voyage of Bran was the inspiration for this fantasy work by Bert Appermont. The subject of this composition is Febal, who - together with his companions - travels to the "otherworld", also known asthe Island of the Blessed, where he finds nothing but sun and prosperity. The sections, called Isle of Joy, Land of the Women and The Feast intermingle with Song of the Otherworld, which acts as a sort of leitmotif.
