In Dreams - Ryan Meeboer

is a musical representation of exactly what our dreams are like: peaceful, calming, horrific and unpredictable; yet, there is always something to remember about them when we wake up. This piece reflects that by manipulating a memorable eighth note motif through various styles, feels, tempos and instrumentation. This is a great piece for young musicians and has a slightly different feel with its use of harmony.

references three well-known hymns---the popular Christmas carol, "Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming," and the hymns "It Is Well with My Soul" and "Were You There." Able to be programmed alone or in tandem, this setting of three cherished hymns is glorious indeed. Rich with texture and emotion!

With substantial opportunity for mallet percussion to shine, this sombre and moving tribute is beautiful. It provides a great opportunity for bands to develop musical nuance and balance. Some pyramiding brass effects lead to an emotional, hymn-like statement and a quiet, reflective conclusion.

In My Garden - Kirk Vogel

"In My Garden" is inspired by one family's struggle with an untimely death. The healing process was aided by the construction of a beautiful garden in their back yard with the inscription in stone as you enter saying "If I had a flower for every time I think of you, I could walk forever in my garden." In Quiet Times - James Swearingen

This beautiful ballad offers plenty of opportunities for focusing on musicality with little concern for technical demands. The humble melody in the clarinets and horn is answered first by flutes then trumpets, before the glorious key change. As beautifully as it began, the piece fades back to a final "quiet time." Sure to work with virtually any instrumentation, and a truly musical experience!

It may be one god or many gods, or it may be greatness of the past or future, but it is the light that is just beyond our mortal reach. This piece starts slowly and grows in intensity over time until the glorious climax, after which it relaxes in tone and volume before reaching a short final section of quiet tension. This ends with warm tonic chord, signifying the light that greets all of us at the end.

The forces of nature are at their most vibrant in this great circus march adaptation by Frederick Fennell. One of the greatest circus marches of all time, an authentic "screamer," this Fennell Edition incorporates those special touches that are the hallmarks of Fennell's march performances. In tantum lux - Todd Stalter

"In tantum lux" (The only light) was written as a memorial and celebration honoring the life of a music educator and her faith, who taught in a small school her entire career and persevered through the challenges and unique demands that teaching small school bands present. The piece also serves as a celebration of every band student and teacher in small schools everywhere who may not have the resources to have a full ensemble, yet strive every day to experience the joy of making music to the fullest just the same.
