Bridges

From its commanding opening phrase, Bridges sets a regal tone in an Americana style as the full ensemble plays the introduction with power and energy. The work creates contrast with more staccato, dance-like articulations but the piece always returns to the strong opening material. It is signature Alan Lee Silva at his best!

British Eighth - Zo Elliott

A classic march in a carefully edited version by Quincy Hilliard, Zo Elliott's British Eighth was dedicated to the members of Britain's celebrated Eighth Army and accepted on their behalf by General Sir Bernard L. Montgomery, their celebrated World War II Commander. In typical British March Style, it has great verve and a trio tune everybody will go out humming. Duration: 3'15"

Bulgarian Rhapsody - Gabriel Musella

This exceptional new symphonic setting of four Bulgarian folk songs comes in a long line of wonderful rhapsodies based upon a collection of folk song material from one country or region. Bull City Fanfare

This exciting opener or closer, easily accessible to most high school or community bands, is named for the "Bull City," Durham, North Carolina. An excellent showcase for each section of the band, the work features moving low brass lines, woodwind counterpoints, and an aggressive horn section. The percussion section is an integral part of composition with extensive use of toms, hand drums, tambourine, and cymbals. A strong option for contest, concert, or community band programming.

Bulldog Victory March

Bulldog Victory March is a spirited composition dedicated to Dr. Albert Bauer and Mr. Colin Thompson, who were strong supporters of the Woodmere Middle School band. The piece embodies the courage, strength, and determination of the school's mascot, the bulldog. With elements of a classic college fight song, the march emphasizes dynamic contrasts and precise articulations to ensure an exciting performance. The repeat section at measure 25 should be played with increasing dynamics, leading to a powerful and energetic conclusion. This piece is sure to inspire school spirit and pride.

This medley of traditional folk songs songs uses Clair Fairchild's Twelve Persian Folk Songs as its basis. Fairchild took care to preserve their original authenticity by limiting all western harmony and as a result, performers will be required to replicate the songlike phrasing of the lines, rhythmic integrity and the style of the accompaniment. Essential to performance of this composition is helping performers understand that many inflections exist beyond what is written on the page. Musical challenges abound in this well-crafted folk song based composition.
