Trombonanza

Written in the style of the many trombone features from the prolific pen of Henry Fillmore, this is a winning selection for featuring the low brass of the young ensemble. It includes ample use of the trombone glissando (colloquially referred to as a smear). The march-like character and simple tunefulness of the work are sure to make it a hit with the band and an audience favorite as well.

Tropanka and Patsh Tantz

This two-movement work is sure to be a hit at your next concert! The first movement, Tropanka (pronounced "tro-PAHN-kuh"), translates as "stomping dance" and originated in Bulgaria. One can hear two repeated notes at the end of each phrase - this is where the dancers stomp! The second movement, Patsh Tantz (pronounced "PAHTSH tahnts") is a classic example of Klezmer, or Eastern European Jewish folk music. The title of this movement is Yiddish for "clapping dance", and all the players get the chance to clap at certain points in their individual parts. Both movements should be played rhythmically; adding weight to many of the downbeats will help bring out the "earthy" character of the music.

Tropical Winds

Take your beginning band to a tropical island! Using simple patterns based on Caribbean rhythms, this is an excellent lighter selection for your spring concerts. Low instruments are featured in the middle section, but all sections get a chance to perform the melody. Develop breathing and phrasing technique while also introducing students to easy and fun Latin rhythms.

Trumpet Stars

Trumpet Starsfeatures young trumpet sections as "stars" in this rewarding piece. Andrew Balent has composed this to help to reinforce basic eighth-note rhythms as well as articulation and ensemble balance between the trumpets and the rest of the band.

Tubasaurus Rex

A feature for the tuba section or tuba soloist, Tubasaurus Rex will put your tubists in the spotlight and make them feel like royalty. Containing the opportunity to demonstrate both light march and swing styles, everyone in the band will enjoy performing this number. Tum Balalaika - Russian Folk Song

Tum Balalaikais attributed to a number of Eastern European countries, but is best known as a Russian Jewish folk/love/"riddle" song. Loosely translated, "tum" means "noise," and the Balalaika is a Russian stringed instrument with a characteristic triangular, hollow, wooden body and three strings, closely related to the domra and mandolin. Carl Strommen's wonderful setting will help any group sound their best.
