Adagio Solo Euphonium and Winds - Woldemar Bargiel

The German composer Woldemar Bargiel was the half-brother of Clara Schumann and composed a significant amount of chamber music. He was supported by fellow composers Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms. His Adagio, opus 38 for cello and orchestra is an eloquently beautiful solo work and makes a very attractive solo feature for euphonium with wind accompaniment. This setting was premiered with euphonium soloist Misa Meade accompanied by the Loyola University Concert Band.

Adagio Sostenuto - Vincent Persichetti

From Persichetti's many offerings for band, the Adagio Sostenuto movement of his Symphony is a particular favorite for festivals and contests. The second movement of this popular work is one of the most beautiful pieces in the wind band reportoire. This movement is offered as a stand alone publication, so that bands that are not technically ready for the entire piece can still perform this lyrical "gem." Without question, the second movement is technically easier but musically challenging. The piece is well worth the effort.

Adam's Song - Louis Adam

French composer, pianist and music teacher Louis Adam worked at the Conservatory of Paris for more than four decades. He wrote two renowned educational piano methods, as well as a number of sonatas for piano and violin. Robert vanBeringen has arranged the adagio movement from a sonatine for piano written by Adam, and given the work the title Adam's Song. Thus, this beautiful, relatively unknown music is now also available for concert bands, a wonderfulrediscovery! Dur: 3:30

Adamant - Larry Clark

Larry Clark's Adamant is strong from the very beginning helping even the youngest of players sound confident and assertive. The work is set in C minor with simple rhythms no more difficult than two repeated eighth notes. With biting dissonances and angular interjections in the flowing main theme, the piece is quite dramatic for beginning band students. They will want to play it again and again.

Addio Napoli

Addio Napoli is a medley of well-known Neapolitan melodies, including Torna a Surriento by Ernesto de Curtis (1875 1937), Neapolitan Dance by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840 1893) which he used in his famous ballet, SwanLake Maria, Mari!, a Neapolitan song by composer Eduardo di Capua (1865 1917), and of course, Funicul, Funicul by composer Luigi Denza (1846 1922). This cheerful medley by the renowned arranger Wil Van der Beek is ideal for allof your concerts!
