Features a beautiful brass chorale and since it is well cued, it can be performed successfully even with small bands. The Australian folk song "Catalpa" was inspired by the escape of Irish prisoners from a jail in Freemantle, Western Australia in 1876. It is said that the song became so popular in area pubs that it was banned and anyone caught singing it would be arrested. An Austrian Carol (Still, Still, Still) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sheldon, Robert

"Still, Still, Still" is an Austrian Christmas carol and lullaby. In German, its first line translates to "Hush, hush, hush, for the little child wants to sleep!" The melody is a folk tune from the region around Salzburg, and appeared for the first time in 1865 in a folk song collection of the founder of the Salzburg Museum. This lovely setting for young band provides opportunities for expression and lyricism on any holiday concert.

An der schonen blauen Donau (The Blue Danube Waltz) has had more success as a concert waltz than in the original choral version: since its victorious performance at the World Exhibition in Paris (1867) it has achieved fame world-wide. In Austria An der schonen blauen Donau has even become an unofficial anthem. At the traditional New Year's concert given by the Vienna Philharmonic, this waltz, along with Radetzky March by Johann Strauss the Elder, is always played as an encore.Duration: 14:30

An Early English Christmas (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - O'Reilly, John

Two lovely English carols are paired together to create a very mature sounding arrangement for young players. After a brief introduction the flute section plays What Child is This? with a light accompaniment. The full ensemble soon enters for a rich rendition of this classic carol. The Coventry Carol is then presented by the flutes and clarinets in 3/4 meter before shifting to a more dramatic 4/4 maestoso for full band.Duration: 2.45
