Rahoon - Alfred Reed
Rahoon is a rapsodic work for clarinet solo and band by Alfred Reed. Using a poem by James Joyce, a haunting lament to a dead lover called "She Weeps Over Rahoon," as the basis, the work was commmissioned by the University of Delaware for the outstanding young clarinetist Eudgene F. Gonzales. The work has enjoyed many fine performances and recordings, including one by the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra.
