CLOUDCATCHER FELLS (Novello Symphonic) - McCabe, John - DeSarno, Ruth E.
Score & Parts. Cloudcatcher Fells was originally written as a Brass Band work, but was transcribed into the contemporary wind ensemble while remaining true to the original. The title comes from a poem by David Wright, and the work is associated with various places (mostly mountains) in the Lake District. The emphasis is on the Patterdale area, though other parts of the Lake District are also referred to, and the work falls into a series of sections which group themselves into larger units, so that is becomes almost a four-movement work played continuously. Includes: Great Gable; Grasmoor; Grisedale Tarn; Haystacks; Catchedicam (Catstye Cam); Angle Tarn; Grisedale Brow; Striding Edge; Helvellyn. Duration: 17 mins.

TIJUANA BRASS IN CONCERT (Young Band) - Ricketts, Ted
Here is a marvelous throw-back to the campy yet delightful music of the 60's, courtesy of Herb Alpert and his south-of-the-border hit makers. Although primarily a feature for the trumpet section, the woodwinds have their fair share of feature spots as well. Who doesn't remember songs like: "Spanish Flea," "Whipped Cream," "The Lonely Bull" and "Tijuana Taxi?"

Tu Ungane - Scott Watson
(Swahili, pronounced TOO une-GAH-nay) means "Let's join together" and refers both to musicians coming together to play as well as African and Western styles merging musically. Western musical styles such as Gospel, Blues, and Jazz owe much to African influence. African music has been influenced by the West as well, fusing British military and brass band music, along with the hymns and songs of missionaries from Europe and the United States, with tribal folk elements. explores this musical cross-pollination incorporating the Tanzanian folk song "Asali Ya Nyuki" ("Honey of Bees") and original musical material in the style of the British-African fusion. This title is available in MakeMusic Cloud.

The Lords of Greenwich - Robert Sheldon
Written in the style of an authentic British folk tune, this is an original composition inspired by the music of Gustav Holst and Ralph Vaughan Williams. A jaunty theme greets the listener at the outset of the piece, followed by a lyrical and expressive ballade. A brief transition culminates in a musical statement that recalls the music of a British military brass band, which is then accompanied by the original thematic material bringing the piece to a definitive conclusion. This title is available in MakeMusic Cloud.
