For the theatrical show Die pet past ons allemaal! (This Cap Fits Us All!) Peter Kleine Schaars arranged a medley of well-known Dutch children's songs, commissioned by the Dutch Police Orchestra. He gave these tunes a totally new sound, so they evolved into a real Dance Party. The exciting rhythms of the different styles (house, swing, salsa, rock-shuffle and disco) will undoubtedly create a party mood amongst your audience.

Halloween is celebrated in many countries around the world on October 31. Traditionally, children go door-to-door dressed up in costumes and collect sweets and treats. A hollowed out pumpkin with a face carved into it, called a jack-o-lantern, is a traditional symbol of Halloween. Some jack-o-lanterns have scary faces, while others have fun, whimsical faces. In Japan, a traditional festival called "Shichi-Go-San" (Seven-Five-Three) is held on November 15th every year to wish for the wholesome growth of girls aged seven, boys aged five and children aged three. The composer imagined how a seven-year-old sister with five and three-year-old brothers would go through various happenings, have fun visiting a shrine and strengthen their bonds. Reflecting the meaning of its title, Shichi-Go-San uses a lot of irregular time signatures to form a witty and resplendent concert piece.

In The Essence of Youth the composer gives an insight into childhood and youth -- inspired by his own daughter. The opening of sparking rhythms, dynamic contrasts and changes of time signature paint a vivid picture of the unpredictability of children. A brief history: Pentecost Monday was a special day for schools in Yorkshire (England). There were a variety of activities. The pupils of Sabine Baring-Gould would meet with the children of a nearby village. It seemed like a good idea that during the walk would be sung. But she could not find a suitable song and decided to write one by herself. "Onward Christian Soldiers" was the result. It soon became very popular, though she herself was not entirely satisfied with the rhyme scheme. The melody used (St. Gertrude) was by the famous English composer Sir Arthur S. Sullivan. Back to now: Gawan Roberts, has given the hymn a proper update. He gave the still popularsong a solid rock beat and added daring harmonies. So it's popular, for current generations, again for years. Onward!
