£72.99Lament and Tribal Dances - Michael Sweeney
Commissioned by the Iowa Bandmasters Association, this dynamic work from Michael Sweeney is written in three contrasting sections. The opening Lament features a plaintive horn melody and expansive harmonies. The mood then shifts to an intensely rhythmic dance using an unusual modal scale. In the final section, the flutes switch to recorders and a driving percussion ostinato figure helps propel this magnificent piece to a dramatic ending. A rewarding and satisfying work from one of today's best composers for young bands.

£104.99Latin Favourites
It is high time to expand the series Peter's Popular Collection with a medley in latin style - music that is appealing to both young and old. For this arrangement, Peter Kleine Schaars has selected perhaps the three most well-known latin compositions ever written: the sultry rumba Bsame Mucho, the spicy cha-cha-cha Guantanamera and of course the stirring samba Quando, Quando, Quando. A dance feast in tropical mood!

£110.99Hymn at Twilight (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sparke, Philip
Although specifically describing the uncertainty of approaching night and an evening prayer, Hymn at Twilight is actually about the human emotions of doubt, insecurity, hope and resolve. This solemn piece opens quietly and introduces a recurring four-note rising figure. Optimism, anxiety and resignation alternate, with the flute taking centre stage. Brass and woodwind take up the chorale. The piece ends in a mood of sanguine optimism.Duration: 9.30

£118.99Spy Ring (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Saucedo, Richard L.
Under orders from General George Washington at the height of the Revolutionary War, a spy ring was organised for the purpose of providing critical information on the movement of British forces in the New York area. This dynamic work for band hints at the sense of danger and intrigue at the heart of this operation. The opening strains are propelled by an underlying rhythmic layer with flashes of colour from the winds and percussion. A reflective middle section features soloistic passages with lush harmonies, and offers a calming mood before the fast tempo returns for the dynamic finish.Duration: 7:45

£39.95Barnaby Behaves Badly (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob
This vivacious programme number was written for Barnaby (more often known as Barney), Simba's (see At The 'Splash' with Sim) predecessor in the composer's Golden Retriever succession. He was a very laid back and happy soul, not the brightest-ever retriever, but with the potential for a little mischief when the mood took him. It was written with the intention of being eminently playable so both the range and the technical demands are carefully controlled and the scoring is designed to make the music sound strong with a band of less experienced players.
