This one is just right for the "encore march" at your next young band concert, or anywhere a bright march is appropriate. Some carefully chosen accidentals keep things interesting, but there are no more than one or two for any given instrument, keeping the technical demands easily within the abilities of a Grade 1 band. Finally, melodies serve as counterpoint for one another and bring this delightful vignette to a close. This piece presents an excellent opportunity to work with the Art department in creating drawings and paintings of holiday images. Earth, Wind & Fire was formed by jazz drummer Maurice White, whose aim was to mix various music styles to produce a unique sound. Combined with excellent song writing and fine performances this sound made Earth, Wind & Fire one of the most influential soul groups of the seventies. In subsequent decades they experienced varying success but this medley reflects the heyday of this legendary group. In his job as staff arranger with the Royal Marine Band of the Dutch Navy, Peter Kleine Schaars wrote many top class arrangements. The talent of the musicians in the band made it possible to write in such a way that they closelyresembled the original works. Consequently this medley shines just like the original versions by Earth, Wind & Fire. Four famous songs have been used: 'In the Stone', 'Got to Get You into My Life', 'After the Love Has Gone' and 'September'.

Triumphal March - Franco Cesarini
The Gran Finale from the second act of Verdi's famous opera Aida, composed in 1869, is a complex part of the drama as in one single scene many different characters, allwith contrasting emotions, appear onstage at the same time. The scene opens in Ancient Egypt when the Egyptian general Radames and his troops, which have just beaten Ethiopia, come marching in. The Egyptians sing a celebration song for him and there is a sound of trumpets playing the triumphal march to receive the hero. The well-known triumphal march, transcribed in this edition for concert band by Franco Cesarini, closely follows Verdi's original score and will bring any concert to a dramatic close.
