A melodic solo for either Alto Sax or Trumpet (it would also sound great on flugelhorn) with band. The solo parts are medium in difficulty and the band parts are slightly easier. Originally written to be performed as a second movement to "Daydreams", this writers earlier solo with band piece which has proven so popular. Excellent program material for you to show off one of your best students or to use when you bring in a guest soloist. This is very nice!

£66.95Latin American Symphonette (Symphonette No. 4) - Morton Gould
Morton Gould, equally comfortable in the worlds of both "serious" and "light" music, presented his symphonettes (an Americanization of the term "sinfonietta," much like kitchenette and dinette) as works of a truly American vernacular, drawing on popular culture as well as classical forms. His Fourth Symphonette is a departure from the musical language of the previous symphonettes, as it is bursting with latino rhythms, each distinct style in its own movement: I. Rhumba, II. Tango, III. Guaracha, and IV. Conga. Completed in 1940, the work was premiered by the NYA Symphony in New York, under the direction of Fritz Mahler. The saxophones, guitar and piano, although desirable, are optional and fully cued in the other parts. Generally, all parts are well cross-cued so that the work can be performed with a smaller orchestra. Written in an upbeat Latin rhythmic form, Chips, and Salsa, Too begins with percussion under a nice rhythmic motif in the winds. A tuneful minor melody in the clarinets, well below the break, continues above this Latin groove after the intro. The tubas (and cross-cued for euphoniums and bass clarinets) and flutes have a melody together, and the rest of the band is gradually layered in the mix until everybody is contributing to the mix. Latin rhythms, featured percussion, and lots of nice melodies for the winds makes this a piece your students and audiences will love!

John Rutter's Requiem is a musical setting of parts of the Latin Requiem with added psalms and biblical verses in English, completed in 1985. This arrangement is scored for soprano, mixed choir and Concert/Wind Band. It may be performed by band alone. Five of its seven movements are based on text from the Latin Requiem Mass, while the second movement is a setting of Out of the deep (Psalm 130) and the sixth movement is an anthem The Lord is my Shepherd (Psalm 23) which Rutter had earlier written. The cello solo of the second movement is maintained, but also scored as a bassoon solo. The first movement combines the Introit and Kyrie, the third is Pie Jesu, with soprano solo. The central movement is a lively Sanctus, followed by Agnus Dei and finally Lux aeterna. In the Agnus Dei and Lux aeterna, Rutter combines the liturgical Latin text with English biblical verses. The arranger has added the tolling of the bell at the end, which can be as few or as many as may be appropriate for the occasion.

O Come, All Ye Faithful (originally written in Latin as Adeste Fideles ) is a Christmas carol that has been attributed to various authors, including St. Bonaventure in the 13th century or King John IV of Portugal in the 17th, though it was more commonly believed that the text was written by Cistercian monks - the German, Portuguese or Spanish provinces of that order having at various times been credited. In modern English hymnals the text is usually credited to John Francis Wade, whose name appears on the earliest printed versions. A manuscript by Wade, dating to 1751, is held by Stonyhurst College in Lancashire. The version published by Wade consisted of four Latin verses. But later in the 18th century, the French Catholic priest Jean-Francois-tienne Borderies wrote an additional three verses in Latin; these are normally printed as the third to fifth of seven verses. O come, all ye faithful ranks as one of the most popular Christmas carols ever written, and the descant by David Willcocks has become famous the world over. This arrangement represents one in the Series of Band Arrangements compatible with David Willcocks' Carols for Choirs.
