Trombones in Paradise (Trombone Section Feature with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sterk, Jordan
Trombones in Paradise by Jordan Sterk will give your trombone section an opportunity to shine in this bright and fun feature piece. Using only the first six notes of the B-flat concert scale and only "natural" glissandos for the trombones, this piece is sure to come together quickly and be enjoyed by your young students. Your entire band will love learning one of their first syncopated rhythms based around the 3-2 son clave, a staple rhythm of Afro-Cuban and Latin music. Less common young band Latin percussion instruments such as maracas and claves provide additional parts for your percussionists and add an authentic flair to the music. Duration: 1.45

La Chica Sin Nombre (Trombone Solo with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob
A vibrant, rhythmic solo for trombone and band. La Chica sin Nombre was written in March 2020 at the request of Brett Baker. He wanted something in Latin style so I chose to go for a Mambo-type dance piece. This obviously works best with band accompaniment where I would always ask for Conga drums and Mambo Bell/Timbales rather than drum kit. The piece needs to be played with an appropriate feel for Latin music. It should sound light and easy to play but has a few tricky moments! Duration: 4.15

Come, Thou Redeemer of the Earth (Concert Band with Optional Choir - Score and Parts) - Noble & Willcocks
Come, Thou Redeemer of the Earth is an Advent hymn with roots in a Latin hymn attributed to St. Ambrose of Milan (340 - 397), 'Veni Redemptor gentium.' It was translated into English by John Mason Neale in the middle of the nineteenth century and set to music from another old Latin hymn, 'Puer nobis nascitur' in the 17th century by Michael Praetorius (1571 - 1621). This arrangement represents one in the Series of Band Arrangements compatible with David Willcocks' Carols for Choirs. With eight verses (two of which may be omitted), it offers versatility in scoring, allowing the conductor to select the instrumental grouping for accompaniment as desired.

Spider Legs (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob
Spider Legs is a vibrant Latin dance number. Although I have used Latin rhythms in pieces in recent years this is the first time I have returned wholeheartedly to one of my favourite types of music since I wrote Tiptoe Tune in 2001. Typically I wrote it when I should have been writing something else but I really enjoyed going back to these rhythms. Stylistically Spider Legs can best be described I suppose as 'Merengue House' but perhaps it is better without any description! It was composed in 2014, shortly after the birth of my granddaughter Emma Louisa who was nicknamed 'Spider Legs' at the time and the name seemed to fit the music so well that I could not resist it.

Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Williams, Vaughan - Noble, Paul
Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus is a Concert Band arrangement from the original work for string orchestra and harp by Ralph Vaughan Williams. The composition is based on the folk tune Dives and Lazarus, one of the folk songs quoted in Vaughan Williams' English Folk Song Suite. The ancient theme on which these variations are based goes back to the sixteenth century, and is known by various titles. Dives and Lazarus is a story told by Jesus in the Gospel of Luke. It tells of an unnamed rich man and a poor beggar named Lazarus. In the Latin Bible, the unnamed rich man is referred to as Dives from dives, the Latin word for rich. This work, based on the tune that Vaughan Williams had loved all his life, which came from the very soil of England, ageless and anonymous, was played at the composer's funeral service in Westminster Abbey on 19th September 1958.
