Salvation (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Smith, Robert W.
The Russian hymn Salvation is Created was composed by Peter Tchesnokov in 1912. Transcribed many times over the century, it has become a standard in the repertoire for choir, orchestra and band. Composer Robert W. Smith has used this timeless melody to create an interpretive statement for the concert band. From the soft and delicate opening phrases to the contrasting full band response, the piece progresses through multiple variations and treatments. The final section of the work presents the hymn in a more standard setting leading to a powerful conclusion. Suitable for contest/festival performance as well as any concert program, this may become a standard in the repertoire. An excellent programming choice.Duration: 4.30

On Cloud Nine is an impressive and energetic composition that will fit in just about any part of your concert program. I Just Can't Stop Loving You (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Jackson, Michael - Hazama, Miho
This number topped the U.S. chart as the lead release single from Bad. Siedah Garrett, who sang the duet, was a protg of Quincy Jones with whom Michael tag-teamed for three solos on Off the Wall. (Garrett is also renowned as one of the writers of the song Man in the Mirror," the fourth single which carries a strong message.) Japanese fans still remember this song being performed as an encore during the Bad World Tour in 1987. The straightforward, sweet love song starts out quietly and gradually takes on heat, unfolding a wonderful musical sentiment. The performance of the arranged version also strikes the audience with an imposing world of sound comparable to that of a full orchestra.Duration: 5:00

Brandon Bay (Flexible Ensemble- Score and Parts) - Huckeby, Ed
An outstanding composition by Ed Huckeby that features rhythmic accompaniment rhythms in the third and fourth parts contrasted with simple, but musically effective first and second part melodic lines. The slower middle section features a haunting melody in 3/4 time and is an excellent teaching tool for the legato style. Ed's arrangement for the Build-A-Band Series makes it playable with very small bands and bands with severe instrumentation issues and insures that it will be a favourite concert and contest selection for years to come for these groups. As usual with this series, optional parts are included for Percussion and piano.
