The Fever Tree Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)
The composition ".The Fever Tree". in 2008 was commissioned by the Music Association of Central and Eastern Netherlands St.Willibrord as a gift to all its members on the occasion of the formation of a national music organization and the elimination of the music union for Central and Eastern Netherlands St.Willibrord. The fever tree is a controversial legend about St. Willibrord (658-739). The daughter of a pagan chieftain of Hoemannen that made the area around Heumen unsafe, was seriously ill. They feared for her life. The chief of the gang turned to predatory Willibrord, who same time in this region led mission. Willibrord commanded the man to repent and a headband of the girl to a certain special tree to hang. The desperate captain obeyed, and his daughter was a miraculous heal. Then came the anger of the Hoemannen against their leader, who in their eyes had committed treason by the group to convert. They abused themselves to him and killed him brutally. The daughter remained behind in great sorrow, comforted by Willibrord. The composition has the following scenes: - Andante moderato - the calling of Willibrord - Allegro moderato - Willibrord passes through the province of Brabant and try to people to repent - Vivace - Hoemannen terrorize the inhabitants of the area Heumen - Andante - the healing of the sick girl and the conversion of the centurion - Inquieto - the revenge of the Hoemannen - Adagio - elegy on the death of the chief 09:45

Prelude Festivo is intended to be performed in concerts and in competitions as well. The work includes solo passages for most instrument groups. Duration 7 minutes. Form: Fast slow fast. The piece is built around two themes. Theme 1 (Allegro con spirito) is the first one presented as a clarinet solo after a fanfare-like opening. Theme 2 is hinted at in the opening bars, but presented fully in the slow (Andante) section (bar 141). This theme is developed and also appears as melodic and rhytmic fragments throughout the composition. In the concluding section (bar 196) both themes are played in conjunction before the piece concludes with the fanfare theme from theopening bars. The solos for cornet and euphonium may be played by saxophone soli cued in at bars 114 and 128. Parts that are marked piu mosso ed leggiero should be played in a cheerful light staccato style in contrast to Andante cantabile.

The admiral himself will inspect the vessel. The first movement (Allegro Con Spirito) gives musical expression to the majestic ship and its toiling crew. In the second movement (Andante), the ship sails into port. It has been polished and technically everything is in order. The admiral will be proud when he inspects the ship. Third movement (Allegro Molto): the captain and his crew are nervous (modulations) while working at the 'finishing touch'. The Navy Band is ready to receive the admiral !. De bemanning van het marineschip Admiral Spirit is druk bezig om het schip in optimale conditie de haven binnen te loodsen, de admiraal gaat namelijk het schip zelf inspecteren. In het eerste deel (Allegro con spirito) horen we een verklanking van het majestueuze schip en de zwoegende bemanning. Hoe beeldend zijn de emmertjes water welke overboord gaan (trombones). In het tweede deel (Andante) vaart het schip de haven binnen. Het schip is gepoetst en technisch is alles in orde. Derde deel (Allegro molto): De kapitein en zijn bemanning zijn nerveus (modulaties) en er wordt aan de finishing touch gewerkt. De Navy Band staat klaar om de admiraal te ontvangen! £149.99St. Martin's Suite - Jan Van der Roost
This suite was composed by Jan Van der Roost on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the 'Koninklijke Sint Martinusfanfare' (Royal Saint Martinus Fanfare Band) from Halle (Belgium). The composer was required to create a suite in three movements based on three images associated with the 'Sint Martinusfanfare' from the small town of Halle in the province of Brabant. The first movement (Andante Pomposo) describes Martin, a soldier in the Roman army. In Andante Moderato we see the image of Martin, who become a Christian and chooses to devote his life to God. In this movement, the composer was inspired by the Brabantine gothic art of the Sint Martinus Basilica in Halle. Thecontrast between the dark Basilica and the statue of Our Lady between the soaring pillars will vividly come to life for audiences of this descriptive piece. The final movement, Allegro Molto Vivace', could have been an image for a frivolous peasant in the Halle carnival. In a triptych about St. Martin it is more fitting to refer to it as an apotheosis, the crown on the pastoral work of Martin, Bishop of Tours, Patron Saint of the Fanfare Band and the Basilica of Halle.
