CHIVALRY (Prestige Concert Band - Score only) - Ellerby, Martin
This 'Symphonic Tone Poem for Brass, Wind and Percussion' was commissioned by Philip Biggs and Richard Franklin for the 2003 All England Masters Brass Band Championship. The work transfers well to the concert band and is already being featured around the world. It is based on two principle themes of love and war which compete against each other in what can be broadly described as a cinematic structure.Performance time 14'05"Recorded on QPRM 150D CHIVALRY, Royal Northern College of Music Wind Orchestra

Christmas Surprise (Concert Band - Score and Parts)
Christmas Surprise is a perfect composition for your first Christmas Concert. It only uses the first 7 notes introduced in most beginning band methods; concert Bb to G plus the low A. This arrangement uniquely combines Jingle Bells and Jolly Old Saint Nicholas with Haydn's Surprise Symphony. It also includes a unique section where the band sings.

COMMEMORATIONS (Programme Concert Band) - Ellerby, Martin
Commemorations was written during Martin Ellerby's tenure as Composer-in-Residence to the Regimental Band of Her Majesty's Coldstream Guards. The idea behind this particular commission was to write a work commemorating various events in the Regiment's history. The resulting work was an amalgam of such pieces written for specific occasions - hence the work can be performed as a whole or as individual movements. The movements are: Fanfare and Royal Procession; Hougoumont (March in Memoriam); Jacob the Goose (Scherzando Militaire); Elegy, 1944 (Anthem for a Regiment); Blue, Red, Blue (March in Celebration). Duration: 17:30. Recorded on Polyphonic Concert Band CD QPRM158D Legacy of Dreams.

Confluence (Concert Band - Score and Parts)
"Confluence" conveys the majesty and power of converging rivers while using just the first six notes taught in most band methods. Bringing together two distinct melodic ideas over powerful harmonic rhythms, "Confluence" is a mature-sounding work that is very accessible for your beginning band. The flowing middle section gives each instrument group a chance to shine before both themes return for a final, mighty "Confluence."

CONTEMPORA (Concert Band) - Gazlay, Gary
Contempora is destined to be another classic from composer Gary Gazlay, the composer of "Majestica" and "Champions." The dauntless melody is passed around the band and is later augmented with a countermelody and a second countermelody at the end. The triple-meter middle section is a great opportunity to let your young band play expressively.

COUNTDOWN (To Eternity?) (Prestige Concert Band Extra Score) - Short, Michael
Extra Score Phase 1 (Mystery) - the fascination of nuclear power; the strangeness of its invisible radiation and enormous unleashed energy which may be beneficial to the human race, but which can also cause violence of colossal magnitude. Phase 2 (Imaginations) - Anxiety begins and nervous doubts increase as thoughts intrude of what might happen if things went wrong: warfare, mechanical failure, uncontrolled fission, explosion, melt-down, firestorms, fallout, burns, contamination, disease, mutation, the desolation of a nuclear winter. Phase 3 (Reality) - Time is ticking on. We accept the benefits of nuclear power, tinged with unease and incomprehension. The piece ends with doubt and uncertainty - only time will tell if we are right or wrong. Performance time 16'56" (Recorded on QPRM115D GREAT BRITISH MUSIC FOR WIND BAND, Western Band of the Royal Air Force)
