Score & Parts. Cloudcatcher Fells was originally written as a Brass Band work, but was transcribed into the contemporary wind ensemble while remaining true to the original. The title comes from a poem by David Wright, and the work is associated with various places (mostly mountains) in the Lake District. The emphasis is on the Patterdale area, though other parts of the Lake District are also referred to, and the work falls into a series of sections which group themselves into larger units, so that is becomes almost a four-movement work played continuously. Warm and Fuzzy (Concert Band - Score and Parts)
Warm and Fuzzy says it all when describing this rich, lush-sounding contemporary jazz ballad that will appeal to your kids and audience alike. Great full ensemble writing, brief written solo spots for clarinet (2nd clarinets never go over the break), and very reasonable brass ranges all combine to make this a wonderful tool for teaching legato style. Very effective, extremely playable, and oh so pretty. A wonderful change of pace for any concert.
