Here we have a rather easy piece with a grand effect. This 2 x 4 voice Renaissance piece was composed by Orlando di Lasso for double choir. It can be performed by two (half) bands or by a band and a quartet. The separate parts are not really difficult, yet the performance as a canon can cause some difficulties, but that's precisely the pedagogical characteristic of the piece.

The title 'Dis-TENSIONS-diS' is a game (or pun) with the words tension and distension (relaxation). The work stems from a 'Leitmotiv' presented at the beginning of the work by the warm sound of the bassoon. So from this melody draws all small parts for maximum re-use like elements of cohesion in different parts of the work. Hence the inevitable game of 'tension and relaxation' that occurs from such re-use of the same subject, but with a multitude of possible variations. Dis-TENSIONS-diS received a Mencion de Honor at the Italian Concorso Internazionale di Composizione originale per banda 2009.

With this medley 'Boudewijn' arranger Gerhart Drijvers pays a tribute to one of the greatest composers of original Dutch songs. Indeed, in collaboration with Lennaert Nijgh, Boudewijn de Groot wrote numerous fine songs for other artists as well as for himself. In this medley you can hear successively the songs 'Strand' (Beach), 'Beneden alle peil' (No level at all), 'Mijnheer de President' (Mister President), 'Tante Julia' (Aunt Julia) and, of course, 'Avond' (Evening). Thanks to these great successes 'Boudewijn' will not only be an extremely popular concert piece for all Dutch speaking audiences, but any audience.

Songs of Liberation was written to commemorate the liberation of the Netherlands 70 years ago commissioned by the KMK/JWF under the direction of Major Tijmen Botma. The piece consists of three Valerian songs, dating from the 16th century. The piece depicts the resistance against the Spanish Ruler. The Cantata begins with dark and sombre undertones symbolising oppression but then allowing the Finale to shine with the liberation of light, and then Gelukkig Is Het Land (The Happy Country) brings the piece to a rousing finish.

Music to Watch Girls By was the first top 40 hit from Bob Crewe with his band, The Bob Crewe Generation. He had heard the melody (composed by Sidney Ramin) in a commercial for Pepsi Light. The original instrumental version featured the trumpet and saxophone, but later Andy Williams turned it into a vocal number. This piece is a great concert closer, which will have your audience singing all the way home with this pretty melody ringing in their ears.
