Die Schne Galathea - Overture - Franz von Suppé
Francesco Ezechiele Ermenegildo Suppe Demelli, better known as Franz von Supp (1819-1895), was the son of a Belgian father and an Austrian mother. In total he wrote some 30 operettas and Steven Verhaert selected Die schne Galathea for his arrangement. This splendid overture is a real gem for lovers of the operetta style which is sometimes (unfairly) looked down upon.

Ziggurat - Wouter Lenaerts
The Tower of Babel was built in 1563 and is the best-known masterpiece of Pieter Bruegel the Elder (ca. 1520-1569). The step-like temple tower or ziggurat was an important meeting place for people from different continents and cultures. However, its spiritual meaning is even more important as this tower was considered to be the gate to heaven - the gate dividing two worlds. This work creates a musical connection between these two worlds. As sources of inspiration, the composer used the Luther chorale 'Ach Gott, vom Himmel sieh darein' (Oh God, Look Down from Heaven, 1524), the legendary King Nimrod and the painter Pieter Bruegel the Elder, whose initials form the basis of oneof the themes.

Rifle Regiment - John Philip Sousa
When you hear the names John Phillip Sousa and Andrew Balent, you know they have to do with something great! Balent takes one of Sousa's most popular marches and works it down to keep some of the technical demands in check for most younger bands. Sousa wrote this march in 1886 to commemorate The Third Infantry, known as "The Old Guard."
