This multifaceted work features three movements: the serene and solemn Corale solenne, which is then followed by Danza con eleganza, in which alternating changes of time signature form a jaunty and also somewhat whimsical whole. The Finale trionfale is thematically based on the opening chorale, though now in a festive guise. Frequent modulations convey the melodies and themes in various keys, resulting in a wonderful harmonic colourfulness. Viva Besana, viva la musica!

"Watch What Happens" is taken from the film score of "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg," composed by Michel Legrand in 1964. The music was nominated for a Grammy that same year, and the film itself won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes International Film Festival.This arrangement was written for Kampen Janitsjarorkester, a band conducted by Thingns for more than 30 years.
