American Song Settings, No. 2
, the second in a series of wind band settings of familiar melodies, was written for and is dedicated to the Maitland (FL) Middle School Wind Ensemble, Eric Mendez, director. It opens with a short introduction utilizing the opening notes of the melody, proceeding to its first full statement in the upper woodwinds. The second presentation features the trumpets and xylophone followed by a statement in the bass instruments while the melody "Long, Long Ago" appears in the upper voices. A contrasting legato section follows, succeeded by a more rhythmic statement in woodwinds and trumpets. The melody then appears in the alto saxophones with a contrasting idea in upper woodwinds. A marcato statement of the melody appears as a three-bar phrase with a staccato accompaniment. The final section utilizes the style of the opening measures and is expanded to bring the work to a final climactic conclusion.

The monument commemorates a battle which unified the Viking tribes of Norway under one king, Harald Hrfagre, or Harald the Fairhaired. Pomp and Circumstance March No. 4 - Edward Elgar / arr. Alfred Reed, M.J. Retford
Of all four marches that came after the overwhelmingly successful No. 1, March No. 4 seems to many people to be most closely related in general effect to the first. Just why this should be so is difficult to say. All five of the Pomp and Circumstance Marches are cast in basically the same form, a two-part A-B-AB, with the "A" part energetic and moving briskly along, and the "B" bringing a change of feeling (even though no actual change of pace is indicated) with the so-called "great tune" by way of contrast. However, it has become almost a tradition with Nos. 1 and 4 to play the final section in a slower tempo, probably in respect of Elgar's tempo marking "Grandioso" at this point. Certainly both of these "great tunes" could, and have, been considered as portraying musically the very essence and glorification of British majesty and power at the time they were written.

, Symphonic Suite from
The combination of award-winning composer John Williams and the talents of Robert W. Smith make for exquisite results. A stunning medley of the four most revered themes from the epic film score. The arrangement begins with the familiar "Prologue: Book II." Next is the aggressive theme from "The Chamber of Secrets," followed by "Fawkes the Phoenix," and finally the theme used in both of the first two films, "Harry's Wondrous World." A vivid and dynamic portrayal of the movie, this one will be a real crowd pleaser. (6:05)
