Onwards with Grieg is a festive march commissioned by the Norwegian concert band, Skjold Nesttun Janitsjar, for their 115th anniversary in 2019.The famous Norwegian composer, Edvard Grieg (1843-1907), wanted a local band in his area and donated money for instruments so the band could establish in 1904.The march quotes some of Grieg's most famous works: Piano Concerto in A-minor, Triumphal March as well as his own signature interval.

Jubelklnge - Ernst Uebel
Ernst Uebel (1882-1959) was born in Klingenthal in Vogtland (Germany), where he spent most of his life working as an instrument maker and conducted the municipal concert band, a task he performed for more than 30 years. In the year 1926 Ernst Uebel composed the march Jubelklnge and gained worldwide fame with it. The march, with its beautiful melodies and exciting drive, was played at many occasions around the world including the coronation festivities for Queen Elizabeth II in London and the Winter Olympics in Sapporo. In this arrangement the march has been adapted to suit the demands of a modern concert band whilst successfully maintaining the traditional character of theoriginal.

Satoshi Yagisawa is well known for his dramatic symphonic band compositions. Even though he has written relatively few marches, they are also very popular: March Willing and Able is based on a chorale while March Bou Shu is based on a Japanese folk song. The Memory of Our Native Place is a rather unusual piece for Yagisawa, as it actually closely resembles a traditional march. The piece opens with a lively fanfare and is contrasted by the following theme. The trio features a chorale-like melody.

This concert march was comissioned by The Royal Norwegian Navy Band for the farewell concert of their manger, Commander Truls Sandaker in March 2017. Sandaker left the Military to become manager of the Festspillene i Vestfold and the march is composed wirh that change in mind the change from Military to civilian. The march is inspired by- and consist of Norwegian signals, themes and songs related to the marine and to the home area of Truls Sandaker.
