Commissioned in 1994 by the Royal Air Force, 'Scramble!' Is a concert overture for symphonic wind band inspired by images of the RAF's airfields during the Battle of Britain, immortalised for ever in such films as Reach for the Skies.The pastoral opening depicts the lull before the storm: the young pilots sitting in wicker chairs outside their barracks on a sunlit morning. The peace is, of course, deceptive, suddenly amid siren sounds, there is a shout of 'Scramble!', and a rush to the waiting planes. In no time at all the squadron is airborne, heading for a skirmish over the English Channel and beyond. A lyrical central section featuring a solo cornet depicts the stillness many pilots described as they flew to engage the enemy, before the battle breaks out once more. For those who returned, it would be only a short while before, once again, they would hear the familiar shout of 'Scramble!'Duration: 7.00

The inspiration for this piece came when the composer visited Florida and the Bird Sanctuary in Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom. He was in the audience to see the rare bird show where he witnessed some fabulous looking and endangered birds that were trained to perform different tricks that wowed the audience. The highlight for him was the conclusion of the show where the most awesome sight greeted us as an American Bald Eagle soared over the audience. That particular breed of Eagle has been a very rare bird of late. With so few in numbers, it nearly became a member of the sad group of animals that are extinct.The host of the show took great delight in informing the audience that the fantastic creature is now officially safe and no longer classed as endangered. This made a great impact on the composer as the Eagle is an amazing bird, huge in size and power and yet so graceful in flight. This piece is everything associated with the Eagle; bold, powerful and graceful and now free to soar and sing in the American homelands.Where Eagles Sing has been hugely successful as a curtain-raiser (or finale) with brass bands around the world and it is hoped that this version for concert band will be just as popular.Duration: 4.00

As Santa starts his journey, bringing "Joy to the World" by delivering presents to children and adults, he sets off on his majestic sleigh driven by his reindeer. A few elves have snuck into the sleigh to help. With a whoosh, he flies across the sky and over the snowy mountains. The music is in continuous motion, just like Santa's sleigh, as he has many presents to deliver before morning. The quiet moments in the music depict Santa's arrival in small villages, away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities, touching the hearts of people everywhere. During his journey, Santa discovers the elves who have apparently lost some of the presents. Santa offers a gentle reprimand before the presents are eventually found by Elfie, the youngest Elf. After all the presents have been delivered, Santa heads back home as he calls out, "I'll be back next Christmas!" (4:15)

A lovely melody with great expressions.Our Last Summer" is a song by the Swedish pop group ABBA from their seventh studio album, "Super Trouper," released in 1980. The song is indeed featured in the musical "Mamma Mia!", a little bit shortened and with small changes in the lyrics. The musical premiered in London's West End in 1999 and is a duet performed by the characters Harry Bright and Donna Sheridan, reflecting on their past romance during a summer spent in Paris.The song is primarily sung by Bjrn Ulvaeus, with backing vocals provided by Agnetha Fltskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, the female members of ABBA. Their harmonies contribute to the song's nostalgic and wistful atmosphere. The lyrics vividly describe the memories of the summer spent together, including scenes of walking along the Seine River in Paris and listening to French songs. The song also touches on the passage of time and the realization that the summer romance has ended.While not released as an official single in most countries, "Our Last Summer" still received considerable airplay and became a fan favorite. The arrangements and compositions in these books were written by Adrian Taylor for various beginner or school bands that he has conducted over the years. Children joined these bands on the 2nd parts, usually having only been playing for a year and they then progressed to the 1st parts the following year.The 2nd parts are written without key signatures in treble clef, in B flat major for bass clef trombone and euphonium and in E flat major for bass clef tuba. 1st parts are written with the appropriate key signatures for each piece, reflecting the greater understanding and skills of the players on these parts. At the best viewpoint over the Alps of Liechtenstein, the village of Guflina is situated. Underneath the overhanging ledge, there is said to have been a cave in the mountain. In it lived a terrible dragon that was on the rampage on the surrounding meadows, spreading fear and terror among the population. At the same time there lived a giant man up in Guflina, who had the strength of twelve normal men. The farmers implored him to help them in their distress. The giant ventured to fight the dragon and was lying in wait above the cave. When the dragon refused to appear, the giant threw stones into the entrance of the cave. They got into a fight, which the giant only just won with difficulty. Since that day, people have lived in peace and prosperity.
