Written with the lilt and flavor of the Scottish Highlands, this original Alan Lee Silva piece is a joyous new addition to the concert band repertoire. The pulsing 6/8 rhythms are contrasted by momentary feelings of 3/4, as the melody floats over punctuated harmonies. This piece contains contrast, with a slower middle section featuring a divine flute melody, accompanied by the sound of "bagpipe" drones in the other voices. This grand Scottishstyle melody develops to a climax before the wistful return of the main theme, and an up-tempo coda completes the piece.

Burst - Sean O'Loughlin
A tour de force concert opener (or a striking closer) that rips right out of the gate with a four-note motive functioning as the genesis for the rest of the piece. It comes complete with bursts offerass fanfares, woodwind flourishes, percussion interjections, and biting harmonies that build tension only resolved at the final chord. This piece packs an incredible amount of music in a short period of time. Before you know it wham! It's over. One of O'Loughlin's finest works to date!

Wedding Dances - Daron Aric Hagen
A concert version of the dance music from the second act of the sensational opera for voices and wind ensemble by Daron Aric Hagen (see Overture above), this varied and colorful piece will be a brilliant addition to the program of a Grade for band.
