A Highland Rhapsody (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Van der Roost, Jan

After Israel (Rikudim), Hungary (Puszta) and France (Suite Provencale) it was Scotland, with its famous highlands, that was to be a source of inspiration for Jan Van der Roost. In a musically impressive way the composer combines the characteristics of Scottish folk-music with his own creativity. As may be expected from Jan Van der Roost 'A Highland Rhapsody' developed into a gripping concert piece, which will be appreciated by both players and audiences.Duration: 6:15

Jig (from St. Paul's Suite) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Holst, Gustav - De Meij, Johan

Together with his good friend Ralph Vaughan Williams, Gustav Holst had a strong liking for the abundant folk music of the British Isles. This influence is heard in many of his works and is perhaps strongest in his Second Suite for Military Band and in the Saint Paul Suite for string orchestra. This work was composed in 1913 for the school orchestra of St. Paul's Girls School in London, where Holst was the Director of Music. The suite opens with this exuberant Jig, a dance originating from Scottish and Irish folk music in alternating duple and triple time (6/8 and 9/8), which has been expertly arranged for concert band. Ding Dong it's Christmas (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Fraser, Bruce

In Ding Dong it's Christmas, Scottish composer Bruce Fraser makes a sport of misleading his audience time and again. The title already indicates that this piece has been based on the well-known carol Ding Dong Merrily on High, even if the melody makes a somewhat halting start. When it gathers pace, however, also due to the percussion section, suddenly various other carols may be recognised. Peace and quiet reign in the middle part, during which we can enjoy Bach's charming O Jesulein suss. Ding Dong it's Christmas ends in the same way it began, even if more and more Carols put in an appearance. Merry Christmas!Duration: 3:30

Eine Kleine Morgenmusik Wind Band Set (Score & Parts) - Fraser, Bruce

An "unintended" play on words on the title of Mozart's famous composition forms the basis of this solo piece. It was composed in 2004 by the Scottish composer, Bruce Fraser, and features a solo for flugel or cornet. It is not a very difficult piece for both the soloist and the band, but is that always necessary? A lovely, highly recommended intermezzo for your concert. 02:30
