£84.99Concert Pitch - Stef Minnebo
Stef Minnebo's Concert Pitch is a spectacular opening piece. It contains two contrasting sections that flow into one another. The introduction is musically beautiful, however it can be performed as background music to a spoken introduction. The conductor would then cue the band to jump into the lively second section and take off!

£69.99Hectala - Willy Fransen
Hectala is the historical place name of the Belgian-Limburgish village of Hechtel where, during the Second World War, the Welsh Guards were engaged in a five-day battle with the German troops. More than 200 soldiers and 35 inhabitants perished. This classical, steady march in 6/8 time was written as a memorial to these events. It sends a powerful message that in war, there are no winners.

Haexdonck - Guido De Ranter
This work was commissioned by the municipality of Kapelle-op-den-Bos on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of canon Jaak Muyldermans. Haexdonck is the old spelling of the present day region of "Oxdonk" where Jaak Muyldermans lived. In this three-part work the composer describes the different human aspects of canon Muyldermans' rich life. The first part, slow and dreamy, describes the writer/poet. The second dissonant part with much percussion describes his time as an army chaplain during the Great War. The third hymn-like part depicts his time as a priest. This work by Guido De Ranter, a newcomer to composition,is suitable for competitions or concerts.

Suite - Boudewijn Cox
Suite for symphonic wind band is a rich orchestral piece that taxes the musicians to the utmost. The first part starts with a lyric melody in the French horn section, to be taken over by the full orchestra, ending in a kind of "anarchistic entrada". The second part starts with a transparently orchestrated polyphonic web, slowly passing into a richly arranged wave like movement that stops suddenly, leading to the third part's "attaca" start. This third part is a fragile "adagio con tenerezza". The finale is extremely virtuous and feriocious. It is a musical expression of anger, fear and despair.

Concertino for Organ - Thomas Trachsel
This work was created by an order from the wind orchestra Feldmusik Sarnen and its conductor Rolf Schumacher on the occasion of his anniversary concert in the Hofkirche in Lucerne. The organist at the premiere was the organist of the court church Wolfgang Sieber. I tried to illuminate the Hofkirche and its organ in all three movements. In the Toccata the full force of the organ becomes clear, while in the second movement one is reminded more of praying monks in the cloister. In the final, all important topics are processed again. The organ part is very difficult to master, the accompaniment in the wind orchestra should be feasible for a wind orchestra grade 4 (approx. 1st class). (Edition Symphonic Works)

Amadeus in the Percussion Box is a Grade 1 composition featuring the percussion section of a band in its first year of instruction. The theme is a simplification of Papageno's famous "Bird Catcher's" aria from Mozart's opera The Magic Flute, and provides an opportunity for beginning players to learn about crescendos as well as first and second endings. An exciting introduction to one of classical music's most memorable melodies!

£106.95An Irish Legend - Ed Kiefer
An Irish Legend contains original melodies in an Irish style, written to evoke the sounds of the emerald isle offereland. The piece is in traditional ABA form, beginning with a lilting Irish jig, then a more lyrical and slow second theme. After returning to the jig, it ends with a climactic section where both themes are played together. It sounds much more difficult than it plays. The piece is exciting and will be well within the capabilities of students at this grade level.

A More Perfect Union - Mike Forbes
A More Perfect Union is inspired by the strife of the Boston Tea Party before the American Revolution, as well as other struggles throughout the history of the United States. It is cast in three distinct parts, with the first portraying the early struggle of the colonies to unify, the second part reflecting the unification of our country After a tumultuous civil war and finally, demonstrating the spirit and fight of the current divide in today's political atmosphere. It is a welcome addition to the concert band repertoire with a strong musical message.

Triangle of the Tempest - Alan Lee Silva
Triangle of the Tempest is a fast-moving composition with interesting rhythmic challenges and dynamic color shifts. Starting with syncopated figures over a repeated eight-measure progression, the piece builds in intensity as more sections and layers are added. The second part changes tone and is led by a heroic trumpet melody with a soaring woodwind obligato. The themes intertwine and the material develops into a dramatic conclusion with a final explosive ensemble hit. Action-packed and full of rhythmic drive, this piece is a good choice for contest or festival performance.
