Nightfall in Camp
Nightfall in Camp is a very clever arrangement that combines The Last Post, and the hymn tune Unto the Hills. The band parts are very reasonable for young players but the solo part should be played by a more advanced player. This piece can be performed at Remembrance Day services, or on other solemn or dignified occasions.

Eagle Pass - Max Williams
Craigellachie!, a Scottish battle cry, is the name given to the spot near Eagle Pass, which cuts through Canada's Rocky Mountains, where the last spike of the Trans-Canada railway was pounded into the earth. This piece is an attempt to express, in music, the indomitable spirit of all those thousands who struggled so hard, not to build a railway, but a nation.

Prelude and Celebration - Jonathan Dagenais
An interesting element of this work is that the two main themes were originally composed by the young students on recorders. The piece was built around those themes and the result is a colorful and contrasting work full of rhythmic and melodic interest. On the last section of the Celebration, all the players join together to sing a C pedal tone as a warm accompaniment for three soloists. It is a way to show that we need unity, support and fun in a band to achieve successful performances.

Irish Festival - Quincy C. Hilliard
Quincy C. Hilliard uses two Irish folksongs as the inspiration for this new festival work. A drone opens the work which quickly moves to a simple, yet creative setting of The Last Rose of Summer. A slow, lyrical treatment of the same folk song serves as the middle section of the piece. The final section is based on The Rake of Mallow and makes use of ample percussion as the piece propels toward a powerful conclusion.

And Birds Will Sing Again - Jeff Smallman
This lyric tune is taken from a musical entitled All's Fair, written by the composer. Set during the Second World War, this song is sung in memory of friends and family who have been lost in battle. Flutes and bells, and later the baritone, play the melody during the verses while the trumpets are given the melody during the refrains. This piece begins quietly, builds slowly through to the end of the second chorus, then quietly winds its way through the last few phrases.
