The Pageant of London - Frank Bridge
Frank Bridge was one of the finest English composers of the first half of the 20th century. The Pageant of London is his only work for wind band, comprising of two marches, one scored from Bridge's best known organ piece and including the chimes of Big Ben, plus three short renaissance pastiche items, one arranged from Playford (later used by Peter Warlock in Capriol Suite). The music is tuneful, approachable and, in the words of wind band 'legend' Timothy Reynish makes a fine alternative to Holst's two suites, which were composed around the same time. Reynish has introduced this work to concert bands right across the world. It has been performed in USA and the Far East, recorded by the celebrated Kosei Wind Orchestra of Japan and also by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales in the Chandos edition of Bridge Orchestral Music.

To The Stars! - Nigel Hess
'To the Stars!' is the fruit of a unique collaboration between Nigel Hess and the children of several Bedfordshire schools who were asked to contribute ideas for a libretto based on the themes of space travel and exploration. The work was then performed during a concert at the Royal Albert Hall showcasing the work of Bedfordshire County Music Services. The unusual combination of children's choir and symphonic wind band is wonderfully exciting, and To the Stars! provides an incomparable performing experience for both band and choir, and is also technically demanding and challenging. After a rousing introduction, we hear a countdown to our rocket's 'blast off', and suddenly we are heading out to the planets where we meet aliens with blue eyes and pink ears! After a brief but terrifying skirmish with a black hole we head off to a 'world of many wonders', and as we leave our solar system behind, the piece finishes with a spectacular shout of 'Fly with us - to the stars!'.

Because everyone thinks that he's a heartless and evil beast, they run away from him every time they see him. But all he got were severe wounds those made by the sailors who thought that he wanted to attack them. Nobody knows... that all he wants, is just only someone who just treat him like the others, not a beast.

This is the perfect song for teaching 6/8 time. It is all very easy with eighth notes in groups of 3 only. No quarter/eighth rhythms, so it is easy to get the students to feel the triple meter. It is also a great song for getting the first clarinet players to play over the break. For the 1st half of the song, they play low notes. From low A, they press the register key and get the E in the staff, thus making it easy and fun to play the higher notes. It is an exciting work and one of NMP's best sellers. The first trumpet's highest note is C.

The Bennett Band Books, published in four volumes starting in 1923, were used to teach literally millions of young band musicians in the middle of the twentieth century the march form and style. The pieces utilized in this book are: Activity, Summit, Success, Project, Courage, Mister Joe, Genius, Improvement, At Sight, Little Rastus, Laurel and Aline. These delightful marches, composed by famous march composer Henry Fillmore using the pseudonym Harold Bennett, have been given new life by arranger Larry Clark. The original essence of these marches is retained and only the instrumentation and some range issues have been altered to fit the needs of today's developing bands. This collection includes twelve of the Bennett marches along with a helpful march warm-up section composed by Larry Clark to help you teach the march form and style to young students. There is the added benefit of a full recording of each march performed by a professional band on the CD that is included in the conductor's score. This arrangement for trombone section and band combines two well-known wartime songs The Quartermaster's Store and Bless 'em all to give the trombone section a thorough workout as well as a lot of fun. The Quartermaster's Store is a traditional song from England. The origins of both tune and words are uncertain and may actually date back as far as the English Civil War. The origins of Bless 'em All are also unclear. The words have been credited to Fred Godfrey in 1917 set to music composed by Robert Kewley but earlier versions of the song may have been in existence among British military personnel in the 1880s in India. The musical Cats, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber is based on the 1939 poetry collection Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot. It became Lloyd Webber's third great success, after the musicals Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita. He began setting Eliot's poems to music in 1977, and the compositions were first presented as a song cycle in 1980. Producer Cameron Mackintosh then recruited director Trevor Nunn and choreographer Gillian Lynne to turn the songs into a complete musical. Cats became one of the longest-running shows in West End and Broadway history. It received its world premiere at the New London Theatre in 1981, where it played for 21 record-breaking years and almost 9,000 performances. The following year, Cats opened at New York's Winter Garden Theatre, its home for the next 18 years, garnering seven 1983 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The show returned to Broadway in 2016, where it had a successful pre-tour run at the Neil Simon Theatre. Cats has been presented in over 30 countries, translated into 16 languages, and seen by more than 73 million people worldwide. Lloyd Webber's magnificent musical score includes the poignant hit song Memory, which has been recorded by over 150 artists, from Barbra Streisand to Liberace to Barry Manilow.
