Concertino For Clarinet (First Movement) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus - Johnson, Stuart

Johnson, Stuart has arranged and adapted the first movement of this much loved Mozart piano sonata (KV 282) to create a delightful and welcome addition to the clarinet repertoire. The accompaniment is lightly scored for small wind band. Primarily this is to create a classical feel which reflects the style of the music. However, larger bands may wish to place the piece strategically in the program to give the heavy brass a rest. To this end, directors may also prefer to use single players on the brass and saxophone parts which would also help to give and orchestral feel to the performance.

Applause! (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sakai, Takamasa

This piece was inspired by a variety of music such as Broadway musicals, French cancan, and circus marches. A special rhythm pattern called "Ipponjime" (or "Sanbonjime") is played by the percussion (3 + 3 + 3 + 1) in the first four measures. This is how people freely clap their hands when ceremonies or parties end in Japan. This custom of clapping hands reflects Japanese people's spirit to readily move on to the next step. As the infectious work comes to its exciting conclusion every player shouts "yeah!" ensuring you will definitely hear rapturous applause!Duration: 2:15

The Monster Under the Bed (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sheldon, Robert

What child hasn't imagined frightening creatures lurking in their rooms at bedtime? This imaginative and delightful composition helps to put a more comical and friendly face on this monster, employing a jaunty melody, whole-tone harmonies, and the use of sound-tubes that produce an eerie and "monstrous" sound when whirled over the head. This is sure to be a hit with players and audience alike. The perfect novelty for any concert, and even more so if your concert is in late October! Duration: 2.15

Carnaval (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sweeney, Michael

The magic of Cuban 'carnaval' music is the basis for this lively and very infectious easy work. Listen as the parade slowly approaches and the trumpets lead the ensemble with the main theme. Following this are question and answer statements typical of the style and a feature spot for percussion (who will have a field day with the unique instruments). Alpha Squadron (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Hillis, Greg

Powerful unisons open this piece and continue as the trumpets state the heroic melody. A countermelody is then placed over this in the woodwinds. Alternating between marcato and legato sections, this is a good piece for teaching contrasting styles. Students will love the minor key and the power of playing tutti. A great opener for your autumn concert.Duration: 2.00
