Knights Of Chivalry - Randy Navarre
One can easily imagine in the days of Castes and Kings, how this composition may spark the feeling of what it may have been like for Knights of the Kingdoms to not only protect the Lords of the Castle, but also be chivalrous to the Ladies of the Court. Dancing at the feasts and festivals, escorting the royalty to various events. Knights had much more to do than fight. They were allowed to have fun. Sometimes. Like all of our Grade compositions, its main purpose besides giving good and interesting music for young musicians to play, is that it is an opportunity for the band director to teach some aspect of music. This is a great composition for introducing eighth notes and following dynamics. No clarinet crosses the break, and the 1st trumpet's highest note is A (in the staff). Everyone plays rhythmically together. Only the drum part may vary. All chords of the diatonic scale are used to make the harmony more interesting with no accidentals.

Eventyr-Suite - Øystein Sjøvaag Heimdal
Fairytale-Suite is an original work for beginning band. The name of the movements are taken from well-known themes from Norwegian fairytales. The music may not tell a story itselv, but it may be a good base for an exciting fairytale on a concert? This piece gives challenging parts to every player and it's a good choice to showcase the entire band. To the conductor: It's several doublings of the voices. This makes it possible to omit certain instruments or parts. The Drum Set part may be split and played by several players.

Pop Culture - Monty Norman, Elmer Bernstein, Joseph Barbara, William Hanna, Hoyt Curtain, Henry Mancini, Margaret Cobb, Bruce Channel, David Mook, Ben Raleigh, The Surfaris, and John Philip Sousa / arr. Robert Sheldon
Some of the most recognizable tunes of our time are included in this well-crafted arrangement including and . Additionally, every single section in the band is featured on its own tune, so this is the perfect piece to use on recruiting concerts when each instrument is demonstrated---but it is so much fun to play that you will certainly want to use it on pops concerts for years to come.

Heartbeat of a City (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Schwarz, Otto M.
A city is founded, it has a heart that beats. But visible achievements such as buildings and infrastructure merely bear witness to what its true heart is made of, the people who have lived, and still live, in the city. The pulse of the city, brought to life by its heartbeat, changes over time. Who hasn't seen those time-lapse images showing twinkling lines of car lights as people make their way to work, while others stand at traffic lights, only moving as if at the push of a button? These are like life flowing in the veins, driven by a strong heart. Leonardo da Vinci had already imagined the rivers as the blood vessels of the Earth. In any city, though, it's not the rivers but the movement and activities of the people who live there. The heart doesn't always beat steadily, however, but its rhythm can be influenced by joy, fear, and many other things. Every city has its own pulse. This is also true of the university city of Marburg, where people from over 100 nations now live together in a cosmopolitan and tolerant community. This work describes the city from its founding in 1222, and the charity of Saint Elizabeth, all the way to the present day.Duration: 9.15

Forged in Fire (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Romeyn, Rob
An epic programmatic piece, "Forged In Fire" is a work of vibrant energy, vivid color and immense power. It draws inspiration from the immense power and uses of fire, and its effect on early civilization and industrialization. A calm and sensitive introductions leads to a new theme at a quickening tempo. This theme, stated simply at first, is then embellished by a driving rhythm multi-meter effect, and further developed with layered contemporary harmonies, changing textures and variations on the theme. After a breathtaking climax, the original theme is restated, more powerfully this time. It then subsides, before building to a shimmering, red hot ending that will leave your audience breathless. Certain to become a mainstay for concert and festival use. Not to be missed! Duration: 4.45

David of the White Rock (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sparke, Philip
This is an ancient Welsh air that was first published in Relics of the Welsh Bards in 1794. Dafydd (David) Owain was a famous Welsh bard who lived on a farm called Gareg Wen (The White Rock) in Eifionydd, Carnarnvonshire, North Wales. Tradition has it that on his deathbed he called for his harp and composed this lovely melody, requesting that it be played at his funeral. Accordingly, it was later played at the parish church of Ynys-Cynhaiarn. Lyrics were later added by Ceiriog Hughes, which describe the melody's inspiration. This version for concert band retains all the beauty and simplicity of the original.Duration: 2:45

Clarinet Concerto (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus - Sparke, Philip
Mozart originally wrote this concerto for a clarinet with an extended lower range, compared to the conventional instrument. As early as 1802, published versions appeared with registral changes, which made the concerto playable on instruments without the extra keys. When producing an edition for the conventional clarinet there are two choices to be made about the 'extra' notes - is it better to maintain the musical line, and hence transpose whole phrases or passages up an octave, rather than single notes, or is the chalumeau tone more important, in which case it may possibly be better to alter one or two notes to keep the correct octave. In this edition Philip Sparke has usually gone for the former so the 'sequences' make musical sense, but have taken the second option in some places. This fantastic work will prove popular with soloist, band and audience alike.Duration: 28:30

Pizza Music (Novelty) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Oli, Ravi
This pepperoni special is probably the first piece yet written calling for "molto mozzarella". It combines Ponchielli's Dance of the Hours with "pizzicato Polka". If you were unsure of your Italian condiments, this is the work on which to learn. It is rumored to be Ravi Oli's only contribution to the (hors d') oeuvre. Delicious

Whirlwind (Flute Solo with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Fraser, Bruce
Whirlwind is a flute solo and (despite the title!) it will be found that a steady waltz tempo works best. Obviously, it is important that the accompaniment remains delicate and that dynamics are adhered to.Titles in the Prelude Series are specifically scored for bands with few, if any, bass instruments but will sound well on larger ensembles. The bass line is playable by any combination of bass clarinet, bassoon, baritone saxophone, trombone, euphonium or tuba; in the event that none of these is available, the part for trombone/euphonium (B flat TC) can be played by tenor saxophone. The tuned percussion part is entirely optional and can be played by any available instrument(s). Each piece also includes a preliminary exercise. This is always in the same key as the accompanying piece and consists of a scale and chord progression that can be used for improving ensemble, balance, intonation and instrumental facility by changing tempo, articulation and dynamics.Duration: 1.30
