Concordia was the Roman goddess of concord or unity. To convey the unity among their musicians, many music societies over the years, including the band that commissioned this composition, have chosen this name. The literal translation of Color Concordia is colour harmony. Consequently, the composer has gratefully used the many ranges of colouring of the concert band for the instrumentation of this work. He based the thematic material on the four note names in Concordia: C, C, D and A, resulting in a brilliant piece of music that will suit any band.Duration: 10.15

Two of the instantly recognisable Christmas pop standards that are permanent parts of our holiday music streaming programs are Gene Autry's "Here Comes Santa Claus" (or as he sang it in his iconic 1947 recording, "Here Comes Santy Claus") and "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town," with lyrics by J. Fred Coots. Both songs have been recorded hundreds of times and remain essentials of any December celebration. Santa in the Mix arranged by Douglas E. The myth of El Dorado ("the golden one") stems from the story of a powerful chief who used to cover himself with gold dust before bathing in a sacred lake where he threw precious objects as offerings to the gods. The myth was soon relayed to the Spanish conquistadors and inspired many expeditions, although the invaders didn't bring back nearly as much gold as they expected, if any at all. Eldorado is a mysterious and dynamic work that illustrates the myth of the golden man and the European expeditions that followed. With a touch of exotic influences, the music is varied and rich. This piece was commissioned by the French Cultural Association Lille 3000 as part of their Eldorado-themed festival in 2019. Duration: 10.30

A vibrant, rhythmic solo for trombone and band. La Chica sin Nombre was written in March 2020 at the request of Brett Baker. He wanted something in Latin style so I chose to go for a Mambo-type dance piece. This obviously works best with band accompaniment where I would always ask for Conga drums and Mambo Bell/Timbales rather than drum kit. The piece needs to be played with an appropriate feel for Latin music. It should sound light and easy to play but has a few tricky moments! Duration: 4.15

£79.99Sir Roger de Coverley (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Bridge, Frank - Wheeler, Alastair
Frank Bridge (1879 - 1941) was one of the leading English composers of his time. In October 1922 he adapted his popular string quartet Sir Roger de Coverley for full symphony orchestra and Sir Henry Wood agreed, at the last minute, to include it in the last night of the Queen's Hall Promenade Concerts at the end of that month. This elaborate and colourful orchestral version has never been widely performed, but has now been brilliantly transcribed by Alastair Wheeler to provide a miniature dance poem for grade 5 level concert band. Bridge's lively treatment of one of England's most famous traditional dance melodies will make a fitting end to any concert, with the strains of Auld Lang Syne introduced by Bridge as a nod towards Sir Roger de Coverley's traditional function as the final dance of a Christmas Ball, as it was in Old Mr. Fezziwig's party in Dickens' A Christmas Carol.

Christmas is the time of the year where everyone comes together, and peace, family and friendship bonds are strengthened. When selecting repertoire for your Christmas concert, it's difficult to find new arrangements that are both challenging and fun to work on, as well as fun for the audience. Crazy for Christmas is one of those pieces by the Belgian composer Bert Appermont. He uses canons and even fugues throughout this arrangement and foresees a spectacular ending. It is based on Il est ne le divin Enfant and Away in a Manger but refers wittily to Jingle Bells, Deck the Halls, The Twelve Days of Christmas and Hark, the Herald Angels Sing.
