Concerto for Horn No.2 in Eb - Rondo (Last Movement) - Score and Parts - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 2 in Eb, completed on 27 May 1783 was possibly the first of the four horn concertos to be written despite its number. It was composed for Mozart’s lifelong friend Ignaz Leitgeb whom he liked to poke much fun as the original manuscript demonstrated in the concertos sub heading ‘Wolfgang Amad? Mozart has taken pity with the Leitgeb ass, ox and fool.' There are also comedic moments in this last movement towards the close where there are gaps in the music and an accelerated coda section.

Sweden On Guard is part of Widkvist's earliest march production. It was composed around 1914 when he served in the engineering troops.It is worth noting that the march from the beginning was probably intended for a small sized brass band and was later rearranged for a full military band by the composer. When I searched in the Swedish War Archives many years ago, looking for more or less forgotten marches, this work, among others, appeared. I immediately became attached to the young Widkvist's catchy melodies and clear harmonic tonal language that express faith in the future and optimism.Sweden On Guard has never been published in print before, and the work of modernizing the setting without resorting to the elegance and resilience of the original has been a challenge.- Niclas BlixtDuration: 2.30

This composition is based on the life of the German cavalry general Hans Michael Elias von Obentraut (1574-1625), who was known for his nerve, loyalty and courage. The figure Van Obentraut is closely connected to the town of Seelze, where he died a heroic death and where a monument was erected in his honour. Finn McCool (Fionn mac Cumhaill) was a mythical Irish giant. There are many stories associated with Finn, including the legend that he built the Giant's Causeway in the north of Ireland as stepping-stones to Scotland. Finn McCool starts as a funky Irish jig with an infectious groove and a call and response structure. This develops into a section with a melody reminiscent of an Irish air. Finally, these two melodies are played together and the music builds to a final flourish.
