In this varied composition, Thomas Doss has used three local folk songs as a symbol of the individual regions: La Montanara (Trentino), Wohl ist die Welt so gro und weit (South Tyrol) and Das Schnste auf der Welt (Tyrol).

£106.00Plasma - Gauthier Dupertuis
When asked by the city of Biberist (Switzerland), to compose a piece for its 150th anniversary, Gauthier Dupertuis thought of a frenetic work, possessed with energy and a constant pulsation from the first to the last note. In this sense the composer was inspired by "plasma", the fourth state of matter (after the solid, liquid, and gaseous states) which makes up, for example, lightning or the sun. Like a plasma ball, whose colors and shapes constantly vary, the musical material of the work is gradually transformed, both in the rhythmic signatures and harmonies and in its atmospheres: it is the same material, but always under a different shape. Sometimes rhythmic and dancing, sometimes solemn and majestic, or soft and lyrical, the work finds its unity in the omnipresence of an ostinato and similar rhythmic and melodic structure. Plasma was premiered in September 2024.

Lamento was composed in memory of Bjarne Haug Thesen (1957-2023). Bjarne came from Nord-Odal and had his musical base in Mo Skolemusikk and Nord-Odal Hornmusikk. In 1987, he was elected vice-president of the Norwegian Band Ferderation (Norges Musikkorps Forbund - NMF), a position he held until 1990. He was an important contributor to the development of the organization and is remembered for his knowledge, bold thoughts and winning spirit. Bjarne had this gift of delivering stories that fit to the issues that were up for debate, and if things started to get a little heated, these inputs from Bjarne often ensured that the debate got back on track. He was on the editorial board for the book "Norske musikkorps" which was published in 1990, and was also involved in the 100th anniversary of the NMF in 2018. Lamento was premiered on the 13th of December 2023 by Oslo Postorkester conducted by Stina Widn.

The evocative Arcadian world is made almost mythological by the attention dedicated to it by poets, writers, playwrights, painters, and composers who over the centuries have drawn lifeblood from it for their works. Full of metaphorical meanings, it is a place of shelter, a place to live and sing about love, even if it means disappointment, and it is the place of civilization opposed to barbarism. It is a symbol of happiness, a real and intact image of reality, motionless in space and time, where nothing changes.
