This number opens with a variation of the fanfare that has been traditionally inserted as an introduction and interlude between stanzas. The second section is in a faster tempo, and is based on statements of the opening motive of the hymn presented in fugal style

Leader of the Class (Concert Band - Score and Parts)
Here's a piece that attacks the age old problem of how to challenge your best beginning students while not leaving behind the students of lesser abilities. The first Flute/Oboe, Clarinet, Alto Sax and Trumpet parts all contain a variation on the melody which should be performed by your best students.
