Opening with a tribute to those who have gone before in service to our country, a solemn, noble theme is presented that reappears near the end of the composition. The main body of the work is a series of march-like themes and idiomatic fragments culminating in a glorious full-band fanfare. From three points of view: the rhythm of the first movement, the melody of the second and the swing of the third. This piece is characterised by a continuous variation of timbres and colours, in a quest for instrumental solutions that are constantly changing. Examples of this are the main theme in the first movement, which provides the rhythmic backing for the introduction of the third movement, or the sinuous melody of the Bolero, which unravels in a constant development of sounds and timbres.
