Harlequin - Bruce Broughton
Harlequin is the most popular of the comic servant characters from the Italian commedia dell'arte who, although a slow thinker, was acrobatic and nimble - he would never perform a simple action when the addition of a cartwheel or backflip would spice up the movement! Originally published for brass band in 1984, this revised version for wind band coveys all the hustle, bustle, and agility of the character in a finely crafted musical structure. Eldorado (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Deleruyelle, Thierry
The myth of El Dorado ("the golden one") stems from the story of a powerful chief who used to cover himself with gold dust before bathing in a sacred lake where he threw precious objects as offerings to the gods. The myth was soon relayed to the Spanish conquistadors and inspired many expeditions, although the invaders didn't bring back nearly as much gold as they expected, if any at all. Eldorado is a mysterious and dynamic work that illustrates the myth of the golden man and the European expeditions that followed. With a touch of exotic influences, the music is varied and rich. This piece was commissioned by the French Cultural Association Lille 3000 as part of their Eldorado-themed festival in 2019. Duration: 10.30

Annabel Lee (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Story, Michael
Scored in a lilting three-quarter meter, this delicious melody, by an unknown composer, was originally scored to accompany Edgar Allan Poe's poem of the same name. The story is of the narrator's deep love for a woman who lived by the sea, and whose untimely death is mourned every night by the narrator as he sleeps next to her tomb by the ocean. The beautiful melody, charismatically harmonized, musically depicts that undying love and provides a meaningful opportunity to teach expressive and lyrical performance.Duration: 2:15
