Haydn is best known for his symphonies but his chamber music is also excellent. He wrote several piano trios and the best known of these is the G major trio with its so-called "Gypsy Rondo." The fun technical lines, originally in the piano and violin, are split among the brass quintet. The band parts are very light and straightforward which allows for some rest on a long concert.

£14.95Ticonderoga March - Leroy Anderson
Ticonderoga is the only work that Leroy Anderson composed exclusively for band, which is certainly odd given his beginnings as a bandmaster at Harvard. First sketched in 1939, the piece was scored and published in 1945. The first edition had no full score, a condensed score being not only faster but also the tradition of the time. This edition of the march changes none of Anderson's music or scoring but does provide for the first time a full score for the convenience of the conductor.

provides ultimate flexibility for ensembles with incomplete instrumentation or odd combinations. These pieces are playable by as few as 5 woodwind, brass or string players with or without percussion. This creates the opportunity for a mixed quintet to perform these titles but also allows for performance for 10-15 players up to full a band/orchestra with parts doubling. Great for music camps, contest use or any band room that has non-standard instrumentation. This is a highly energetic piece that the band and audience will certainly enjoy. It opens with a mysterious feeling, introducing some of the melodic content, before moving into the fast (and triumphant!) tempo. (3:40)

£58.50The Harvest Moon Soiree - Frank McKinney
At this soire music lovers have assembled to celebrate the harvest, play a few tunes, and enjoy a little dancing. Beginning with a lightly scored "hoedown" motif with woodwinds, the good-natured mood is interrupted by a thoughtful chorale, first stated by the brass. Contrasting consonance and dissonance are shared by each section until completed by the full ensemble. Eventually the "hoedown" theme returns with renewed energy, and the piece dances to a surprising finish.
