The Colours of Christmas (Concert Band with Optional Choir - Score and Parts) - Rutter, John - Noble, Paul
A new John Rutter composition is The Colours of Christmas. The melody is beautiful in its simplicity, and the words are descriptive of the holiday spirit. This arrangement is written and intended for combined Wind Band and Chorus. However, it is also arranged so that it is complete with Wind Band alone. The scoring is done with some cue size notations that should be played if performing without the chorus. This will make a delightful addition to any Christmas or seasonal concert. The choral part is shown in the conductor's score, but is not a part of the set.

The Sun Will Rise Again (Concert Band - Score & Parts) - Sparke, Philip
The composer writes:On March 11th 2011 a massive 9.0- magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of north-eastern Japan. I'm writing these programme notes barely a week later and the death toll caused by the quake and resulting tsunami already exceeds 6000, with thousands of people still unaccounted for. I have many friends associated with many bands throughout Japan and one of these, Yutaka Nishida, suggested I write a piece to raise money to help those affected by the disaster. I was immediately attracted by the idea and have arranged Cantilena (a brass band piece recently commissioned by the Grenland International Brass Festival, Norway) for wind band, giving it a new title to honour my friends in the Land of the Rising Sun. I will be donating royalties from this piece to the Japanese Red Cross Society Emergency Relief Fund and am delighted to say that my distributors, De Haske, who will generously also donate all net profits from sales of this piece, have pledged a substantial advance payment to the Red Cross so that what little help this project generates can be immediate. It is my sincere wish that this 'Band Aid' project will allow wind bands around the world support the people of Japan, where bands are a way of life for many, in this difficult time.- Philip SparkeDuration: 4:30

O Waly Waly (A Rhapsody for Band) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Bocook, Jay
Dating from the 1600's, the folk song O Waly, Waly (commonly known as The Water is Wide) forms the basis for this well-crafted rhapsody for band. The lyrical opening section features solos on flute and euphonium, as a four-note motif common to this song and also "Carolina" (South Carolina's official song) is developed. This motif unifies the entire work. A Celtic flavoured Allegro takes over using this fragment, which leads ultimately to a grand Maestoso section for the entire ensemble. A creative and dynamic work!Duration: 5:00

Song for Hope (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sweeney, Michael
Written as a memorial for a middle school band student, this sensitive and moving work opens with a chorale played by off-stage brass. A flowing melody stated in the low register is then developed before leading to a brief fanfare-like affirmation. The Korean folk song "You and I" is briefly quoted before returning to the off-stage brass and calm closing passage. A beautifully scored lyric piece for band. Extra players are not required for the off-stage parts.Duration: 4:30

Jump Start (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Hodges, Steve
This catchy tune lets the band cut loose with a strong jump beat powered by an old school bass line and active percussion. A dynamic introduction leads to the melody presented by the trumpets and then repeated by the rest of the band. The solo tom-tom leads to the give-and-take middle section that builds into a repeat of the melody. A short coda section provides a big finish to this exciting piece. Careful attention to articulation markings will add even more energy to the rhythmic patterns throughout the piece.Duration: 1.50
