£44.95Khvarena - The City of Light (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Mau, Alga
Khvarenah: The city of light is Alga's second wind orchestra piece. Written in 2015 for a competition held by the Abingdon Concert Band in Oxfordshire, UK, it tries to capture the spirit of 'Khvarenah', an Avestan word for the Zoroastrian concept of 'royal glory' and 'splendour'. It opens with a quiet, steady layering of woodwind and brass, depicting an ancient desert city in the vast lands as the sun emerges from the horizon. We are then taken through the bazaars of the city as the markets are filled with joyful shouting and music and dance before entering the central courtyards, the royal army saluting their newly crowned king, heralding in a new era of glory.

£99.95Scenes from Modern Life (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob
This suite depicts various aspects of contemporary existence. First there is The Beating Heart of the City (3.20) with its clamour, jagged edges and persistent nervous energy. This is followed by an aspect of life that is timeless ?€" the vista of Clouds (3.30). This quiet and impressionistic movement is all about shapes gently forming and then merging and shifting. Finally, Coach Ride (3.06) is a manic journey on a bus (obviously not taking in the M25). This fast and furious little piece was originally written as an encore for the Buckinghamshire Symphonic Wind Ensemble. It is a romp of a coach ride during which a couple of nursery rhymes appear, including ?€The wheels on the bus go round and round?€.Duration: 10

£395.00When Icicles Hang (Concert Band with Optional Choir - Score and Parts) - Rutter, John - Noble, Paul
John Rutter received an early commission for a piece of music that was seasonal for winter, though not necessarily linked to the Christian traditions of Christmas, in the early '70s. The request came from his friend Russell Burgess, a well-known conductor in the English musical scene and head of the Wandsworth School Boys' Choir through the '60s and '70s. Rutter responded with a six-movement work for orchestra, boys' choir, and mixed chorus, called When Icicles Hang. He chose his texts, characteristically, from Elizabethan and other early English poetry, each text dealing with images from the wintery season, be they the cold, ice-bound landscape and its winds; an older man's weariness in the face of the season; or the contrapuntal pleasures of ale and honey love for those safely inside on winter nights. The movements are: I. Icicles; II. Winter Nights; III Good Ale; IV Blow, blow, thou winter winds; V. Winter wakeneth all my care; VI . Hay, ay. With sparkling orchestration which has been faithfully set for Concert/Wind Band, the work may be performed with chorus as originally written, or may be performed effectively by band alone. The work is available as a complete set of six movements, or each movement may be purchased and performed individually.

£72.99Walking to the Sky (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Buckley, Robert
Walking to the Sky takes an epic, cinematic approach to celebrate humankind's collective quest for wisdom and transcendence. It was inspired by a 100-foot Jonathan Borofsky sculpture, which creates the illusion of a group of people walking skyward into infinity. With pulsing percussion, heroic brass, haunting melodies, sudden shifts in dynamics and dramatic key changes, everyone in the ensemble gets a chance to star in this exciting mini-movie score. To add even more grandeur, there is an optional choir part (that could be played on a synthesizer).Duration: 3:45
