Applause! (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sakai, Takamasa
This piece was inspired by a variety of music such as Broadway musicals, French cancan, and circus marches. A special rhythm pattern called "Ipponjime" (or "Sanbonjime") is played by the percussion (3 + 3 + 3 + 1) in the first four measures. This is how people freely clap their hands when ceremonies or parties end in Japan. This custom of clapping hands reflects Japanese people's spirit to readily move on to the next step. As the infectious work comes to its exciting conclusion every player shouts "yeah!" ensuring you will definitely hear rapturous applause!Duration: 2:15

Christmas Bells (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Kernen, Roland
As the title suggests in Christmas Bells, bells play the leading part. This medley begins with bell chiming on the CD (this comes with the set), after which the band come in with a solid chord. During the short introduction, the bells still sound in the background. Following this sparkling introduction three well-known Christmas melodies are heard. Roland Kernen chose Kling Glockchen klingelingeling, Susser die Glocken nie klingen and, of course, Jingle Bells! A fantastic work to end any Christmas concert.Duration: 6:00

Morning Song (Horn Quartet with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Sparke, Philip
Morning Song features the horn quartet mostly in a soloistic role - indeed there is an accompanied cadenza towards the end of the piece - but there are moments where the horns assume their conventional concert band role as harmonic support or playing the counter melody. This expressive composition shows all the versatility of the horn quartet and gives them the chance to be in the spotlight.Duration: 7:00

Dreams and Fancies (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Brand, Michael
The story of a sleepless night, "Dreams and Fancies" uses musical episodes to depict definite pictures: the three accented pulses of the main theme signifying a kind of fate, a demented waltz which breaks down, a love theme in the middle, then a wild jazz party. The end is a huge climax - a grand ceremony in which the lovers marry, but haunted by the three accented pulses of the first theme, representing a dark fate.

The Berlin Rag (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Blinko, Timothy
The Berlin Rag evokes the rich harmonic sound-world of 1920s Berlin and contemporary jazz, fused with the technique of American Ragtime. The scoring is highly colouristic in nature, and has avoided any weighty doublings. There are also many solo opportunities for all the principal players, either chamber-like combinations, duets or solo lines. The magical crunchy effect of the tutti band is reserved until the end where it is finally released in a blaze of brass writing, spiked with timpani and percussion.
