£104.50Festival and Ballade For Winds - Travis J. Weller
Festival and Ballade for Winds was written for the 2009 Pittsburgh Diocesean Honor Band hosted by Bishop Canevin High School. The opening fanfare contains a number of melodic fragments out of which the rest of the work grows and develops. The Allegro Spiritoso at the beginning of the piece gives way to a lush and reflective Ballade section in which there are wonderful moments for dynamic expression by the ensemble. There are a number of solo/small group performance opportunities which occur before the percussion ushers in a return to the original tempo, followed by a brief development section that leads to an energetic and uplifting conclusion.

£121.00Prelude to Parsifal - Richard Wagner
Parsifal, written in 1882, was the final opera by composer Richard Wagner (1813-1883). The prelude is a miniature masterpiece consisting of only 116 measures. The form of the prelude is similar to that of the classical three-movement overture and consists of four musical motives: the mystical realm of the Holy Grail; the Grail itself in the Dresden Amen; Faith, represented by the brass chorale; and the Agony of Amfortas. This transcription by John R. Bourgeois faithfully adheres to Wagners intent both in key relationships and orchestration.

£174.99Mexican Pictures - Franco Cesarini
Your band will love getting acquainted with Mexican Pictures, a suite in four movements based on Mexican folk music. The first movement, El Butaquito, is based on a very lively folk-song of the same name and is characterised by its many contrasting rhythms. The second movement, Romance Mejicano, creates a peaceful and romantic atmosphere. The title of the third movement, Ballaviejo, means 'Antique Dance', in which the word antique refers to the rhythms that were taken to America by Africa's black population. La Charreada, the final movement, depicts the popular Mexican Rodeo, where the action in the arena is usually supported by instrumental ensembles, the so-called 'Mariacchi'.

£154.99Deux Mouvements - AndrĂ© Waignein
Early in 1989 Jean Baily, director of the Royal Conservatoire in Bruxelles, asked his very close friend Andr Waignein to compose a piece which could be performed by the conservatoire's saxophone class. Andr Waignein was readily agreeable. Not only was his father a saxophone player, but himself felt strongly attracted to the instrument and he was further encouraged into accepting the commission by his friend Alain Crepin, saxophone teacher at the Bruxelles Conservatoire. The piece he composed consists of two movements, hence the title. An elergy is expressed by means of a melody which is full with pronounced magnanimity, full of spectacular musical freedom enabling thesoloist to express himself to the full. In this movement the melodic element is of the utmost importance. The capriccio, the second movement is musically disconcerting. The band's accompaniment is particulary important. Due to the high notes, the soloist brings this capriccio to a close with enthusiastic virtuosity.
