A Christmas Tale (Narrator with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Standridge, Randall D.

In some European Christmas traditions, Saint Nick (Santa Claus) does not work alone. He travels with the Krampus, a Christmas Devil who doles out punishment to bad boys and girls on Christmas Eve. This work serves as a darkly delightful Christmas piece, intended to educate, entertain, and creep out your audience. The poem Beware the Krampus (written by the composer) helps frame the piece as familiar carols The Ukranian Bell Carol, Up on the Housetop, Jolly Old St. Nicholas, and other holiday favorites are distorted.Duration: 5.15

Snow White (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Doss, Thomas

A Fantasy AdventureSnow White is undoubtedly one of the best-known of all fairy tales, first appearing in the Grimm Brother's 1812 collection Grimm's Fairy Tales under the original German title of Sneewittchen. According to the mythologies the story actually took place in Spessart. It is even allegedly possible to identify specific reference points within the plot to Lohr and its environs. Thomas Doss has taken this opportunity to link this story to the area, and has even incorporated the motif from the famous "Spessart Song" into each of the four movements. Thus, he has rendered the legend of Snow White and the area of Spessart inseparable from one another.Duration: 10:45

The Curse of the Mermaid (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Doss, Thomas

One day, the fisherman kills a mermaid, who casts a spell on him shortly before she disappears into the water. The composition is in the form of a symphonic poem, starting slow and then mysteriously opening up revealing a fantastic colourful world of sounds and motion. There are various moments during the piece where the composer includes broad and beautiful melodic material, as well as surprising effects and great rhythmical interest. All Bells in Paradise (Concert Band with Optional Choir - Score and Parts) - Rutter, John - Noble, Paul

All Bells in Paradise was written for the 2012 Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols held each Christmas Eve at King's College. For this, John Rutter turned to a carol text more or less contemporary with King's Chapel itself, the 15th century Corpus Christi Carol, to which he added his own text. This arrangement is written for combined Concert Band and Chorus, but may be performed by Band alone. Bands will find this arrangement very accessible in its technical demands. Its beauty and simplicity will add to music for the Christmas season.

Rubies (After Thelonious Monk's Ruby, My Dear) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Harbison, John - Martin, Peter Stanley

Composer John Harbison writes: "Rubies is a version of Thelonious Monk's Ruby, My Dear, which he composed while still in his teens. When I was invited by the Seattle Symphony to make a short piece reflecting my first musical passions, my thoughts were of Bach and Monk. Since I had recently made some Bach-like chorale preludes, I chose to make a version of Monk's tune, first in a chamber-musical, contrapuntal manner, then in the grand orchestral style I had always heard lurking there." Luceafarul (The Evening Star) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Doss, Thomas

Luceafarul (The Evening Star) is based on an old Romanian legend about a princess who falls in love with the evening star. Eventually the star returns her love, and one night he climbs down in human form to her. However, their love fails because of his realisation that such a connection between heaven and earth is impossible. Thomas Doss has translated this romantic, touching love drama into an equally dramatic and emotional musical work. Deeply moving!
