Songs from the Lowlands (SATB Choir - 25 Pack) - De Meij, Johan
Songs from the Lowlands is a collection of songs from the 16th and 17th centuries from my native country The Netherlands, formerly known as The Low Countries. They are, by turns, patriotic songs by Adriaen Valerius from the time when our country was occupied by Spain, naughty love songs and a drinking song, Peeckel-Haringh. Songs from the Lowlands was written for the farewell concert of my dear friend Jim Yarnell, who has been the director of bands at The American School of The Hague for four decades. Jim conducted the premiere at his final concert, April 8, 2022, and now enjoys a well-deserved retirement.Duration: 12.00

Legend of a Giant (Also Saxophone Solo with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Houben, Kevin
Legend of a Giant is a composition for solo alto saxophone and Wind Band composed by the Belgian composer Kevin Houben. The composer dedicated this challenging saxophone concerto to the Spanish saxophone virtuoso Mariano Garcia. The work had its premiere in May 2021 in the Lemmensinstitute with the Wind Band of the LUCA School of Arts in Leuven (Belgium) conducted by Ivan Meylemans. Mariano Garcia is a full time professor saxophone at the LUCA School ofArts, the Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Aragon in Zaragoza (Spain) and the Wiener Akademie Musik (Austria). As in any classical concerto the saxophone soloist 'competes' with the ensemble: first alternately, in dialogue with each other, afterwards fraternally together. Moreover the ensemble is regarded as an equal partner, therefore also for the musicians of the group, this cinematic score presents a tough challenge. Legend of a giant immerses the listener in the world of the saxophone and challenges the soloist in the field of lyricism and timbre, but also on a technical level. In this way various aspects and modern playing styles such as bisbigliandos, double staccato, frullatos, glissandos, harmonics of overtones, pass in review. In a word: a tough 'challenge' for any saxophone virtuoso! A simplified version of the saxophone solo part also exists.

Where Angels Fly (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Houben, Kevin
Commissioned by Banda de Musica Municipal de Silleda (ES), Kevin Houben has written this work for the Certamen de Valencia 2018 in Spain. Where Angels Fly is a very technical, powerful and virtuoso work, with a rather fragile and soft introduction in which the main motif, derived from Paul Gilson's La Priere from Le Retour aux Pays, is developed and also includes Houben's own musical signature, HBE(N). Where Angels Fly is a challenging, impressive and virtuosic contest piece.Duration: 16.00

El Toro (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Bernotas, Chris M.
Each year in July in the city of Pamplona, Spain, hundreds of people participate in the running of the bulls, which precedes the daily bullfights during the Fiesta de San Fermin. El Toro (The Bull) is an exciting piece with a Spanish flair that has moments of harmonic tension and drama with strong melodies and countermelodies. An exciting way to explore 3/4 time, tension-and-release, and hemiolas, students can imagine the adrenaline of the run and the celebrations of the fiesta as they perform this tune. Ole!Duration: 2:30

Esurientes (from Magnificat) (Concert Band with Optional Choir - Score and Parts) - Rutter, John - Noble, Paul
Magnificat anima mea (My soul doth magnify The Lord) is the first of seven movements comprising John Rutter's setting of the biblical canticle Magnifica, completed in 1990. Rutter was inspired by jubilant celebrations of Mary in Hispanic cultures and conceived the work as a bright Latin-flavoured fiesta. In countries such as Spain, Mexico and Puerto Rico, feast days of the Virgin are joyous opportunities to take to the streets and celebrate with singing, dancing and processions. This arrangement for combined Concert Band and Chorus may also be performed by band alone, and is a faithful representation of the original composition.
