King Karl King - Henry Fillmore

Originally written for a film (The Big Brass Band) that was never made, this terrific but little-known march turned out to be the last march that Fillmore would write. Unusually rich in harmony, it was not published in Fillmore's lifetime. He had asked that it be named after his friend and fellow march composer, Karl L. King, if the movie was not produced.

Con Brio (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Ford, Ralph

Scored in traditional, or standard march form, this original work has all the opportunities for varied performance that are found in Sousa's revered marches. The trio section features a melody from "The Maple Leaf Forever" and is quite appropriate since the march was commissioned and premiered by the Con Brio Festivals in British Columbia. Mercury (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Van der Roost, Jan

Mercury is a concert march composed in a typically British idiom. In 1990, Jan Van der Roost wrote this piece on the occasion of the 15-year anniversary of his own band: Brass Band Midden Brabant. Like many British marches, the main theme is written in a minor key. Powerful and virtuoso themes characterise the first part of this march, while the trio melody is much more melodical, offering the tenor register to display its lyrical skills. Follows a dynamic passage for trombones and trumpets/cornets, leading to a "grandioso" version of the main trio melody and thus concluding this march in a magnificent way.Duration: 3.00

Bandissima (Concert Band - Score and Parts)

A festive introduction leads to the main part of this march, most notable for its exciting dynamic contrast and strings of ornate and technically interesting semiquaver passages. The trio creates a change of pace, introducing a beautiful, song-like melody which, over the course of several powerful interludes, undergoes a fascinating transformation that leads back to the march. Bandissima's technical prowess and well-defined structure make it an exciting contemporary concert march. 03:10
