What starts out as a fanfare quickly becomes variations on the opening themes. As the title suggests, those themes are musical foreshadowing for the "Changes Ahead". With effective use of mixed meters, changing keys and rhythms there is an excitement that builds off of otherwise simple melodies. In the middle section comes a lyrical contrast with a sense of anticipation that the "changed" themes are coming back to a powerful ending, where all the themes combine. "Changes Ahead" showcases each section of the band, but more importantly it will challenge them to listen to other themes and compliment them. With lots of percussion, dramatic brass, flowing winds this piece creates a bold musical experience for the band and the audience. Duration: 5.45

Nne na Tatu (Swahili for "Four on Three") is inspired by the music of sub-Saharan Africa and other world music traditions. Like many of those traditions, Nne na Tatu is driven by relentless percussion and rhythmic-focused development. A bold, festive theme, introduced in the brass, recurs throughout and grounds the piece amidst a series of unpredictable detours - a Scottish-inspired dance in the winds, a marimba melody reminiscent of the music of the Andes - before returning in a final triumphant fanfare. £100.00Battles (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Dobson, Simon
Battles was written for the restoration of the epic 1927 silent film The Battles of Coronel and Falkland Islands, and was commissioned by the British Film Institute (BFI) in 2013. The work presents eight contrasting scenes as a continuous sequence: War, Introduction of Admiral von Spee, German Banquet, Building Steam/Preparing, Islanders, Call to Arms, Great Battle at Sea and Victory. The original score was written for a small chamber orchestra, symphonic brass and a substantial batterie of tuned and untuned percussion. Battles has been edited for symphonic wind orchestra with percussion and harp. Composer Simon Dobson says of his colourful score, "I wanted to keep things simple and clear, so there is a British theme, a fanfare march idea, often heard on trumpet, and a German naval theme, which is a more angular motif." Sinfonietta No.1 was originally written for brass band, commissioned by the Dutch National Championships 2011 in Groningen. It also served as the test piece for the Swiss National Championships 2011 in Montreux, Switzerland. In 2012, Johan de Meij created this version for wind orchestra. Unlike most of Johan de Meij's compositions, Sinfonietta No.1 is an abstract, non-programmatic work. It consists of three movements, in which the thematic material of the opening measures, an upward fifth jump. returns in various shapes and forms throughout the piece. The slow middle section features solo passages by cello, English horn and bassoon, all starting with the same fifth jump. The final movement presents an Elgar-like march theme, interspersed with quotes from the second movement, and ending with the opening theme of movement I.Duration: 15.30
